Prop News Filter

Prop News Filter is a free Expert Advisor that helps traders on prop firm and funded accounts avoid violating the 2-minute news rule that most major prop firms enforce. It uses a precise two-stage protection model: pre-block new trades 15 minutes before the restricted window, then close everything 2 minutes before the news.

Most news filter tools either block trading too aggressively and kill your edge, or rely on the MQL5 native calendar which is often disabled on prop firm terminals. This EA uses the public ForexFactory feed, so it works on any broker. The restricted events list reflects actual prop firm rules, so you only get blocked when needed.

News protection

  • Two-stage protection — pre-block window blocks new trades while existing positions keep running. Active 2-minute window forcefully closes positions and pending orders.
  • ForexFactory news feed — reliable public source with industry-standard restricted events list (NFP, CPI, FOMC, central bank decisions, employment data).
  • Auto-detection of currencies — parses the chart symbol to determine which currencies to watch.
  • AUTO and ALERT modes — AUTO closes trades automatically. ALERT only sends notifications and lets you decide.

Visual feedback

  • Visual panel with traffic-light status, current state, next event, countdown, and today's restricted events list.
  • CSV log — records every block and close action with timestamp.

  2. Tick Allow WebRequest for listed URL.

Free version limits

This free version is designed for traders who manage one chart manually and covers the core news rule. Weekend close, holiday close, multi-symbol mode, multi-EA coordination, secondary defense layer, and MQL5 native calendar fallback are available in the paid version.
