Free 2-minute news rule helper for prop firm and funded account traders.

Prop News Filter is a free Expert Advisor that helps you avoid violating the 2-minute news rule that most major prop firms enforce. It uses a precise two-stage protection model: pre-block new trades 15 minutes before the restricted window, then close everything 2 minutes before the news.

Most news filter tools either block trading too aggressively (killing your edge) or rely on the MQL5 native calendar (often disabled on prop firm terminals). This EA uses the public ForexFactory feed — works on any broker. The restricted events list reflects actual prop firm rules, so you only get blocked when needed.

★ Two-stage news protection — Pre-block window blocks new trades while existing positions keep running. Active 2-minute window forcefully closes positions and pendings.

★ ForexFactory news feed — Reliable public source with industry-standard restricted events list (NFP, CPI, FOMC, central bank decisions, employment data).

★ Auto-detection of currencies — Parses the chart symbol to determine which currencies to watch.

★ AUTO and ALERT modes — AUTO closes trades automatically; ALERT only sends notifications and lets you decide.

★ Visual panel with traffic-light status — Shows current state, next event, countdown, and today's restricted events.

★ CSV log — Records every block and close action with timestamp.

⚠ Required setup (30 seconds)
1. Tools → Options → Expert Advisors
2. Tick Allow WebRequest for listed URL
3. Add this URL (type it manually — spaces below are intentional):
   nfs . faireconomy . media
(use the standard https prefix, then remove the spaces)

Free version limits

This free version is designed for traders who manage one chart manually. It covers the core news rule. The following advanced features are only in Prop News Filter Pro:

  • Weekend close (auto-detection of session times)
  • Holiday close (auto detection + manual override)
  • Multi-symbol mode (affects all open trades, not just chart symbol)
  • Multi-EA coordination via GlobalVariables
  • Defense layer 2 (closes new trades that bypass GlobalVariable signals)
  • MQL5 native calendar fallback (when ForexFactory is unreachable)
  • Manual currency override

If you trade on a funded account, you almost certainly need the Pro version — funded accounts typically require weekend close, and most funded traders run multiple EAs that need coordination. Search "Prop News Filter Pro" in the marketplace.
