Today’s Technical Analysis — 27 August 2026
■ Summary
Today, USD/JPY, AUD/JPY, and CAD/JPY are strong, with yen selling as the central market theme. In particular, USD/JPY, AUD/JPY, and CAD/JPY show aligned Buy signals from the short-term charts through the daily chart, confirming a clear upward trend in yen crosses.
Meanwhile, EUR/USD, GBP/USD, AUD/USD, and NZD/USD retain Buy signals on the daily chart but show selling pressure from the short-term through the hourly charts. Dollar pairs appear to be undergoing short-term corrections within their medium- to long-term uptrends.
Gold and silver remain Strong Buy on the daily chart but are Strong Sell from the 5-minute through the hourly charts. Short-term profit-taking and corrections are dominant at elevated levels.
In equities, the DAX is exceptionally strong, while the CAC 40 is Strong Sell across all timeframes. U.S. equities show hourly rebound signals, but the Nasdaq 100 remains Sell on the daily chart, leaving the overall direction mixed.
■ FX Market
EUR/USD 1.1645
The 5-minute chart is Sell, the 15-minute and hourly charts are Strong Sell, and the daily chart is Strong Buy.
The daily uptrend remains intact, but the short-term correction continues. Selling on rebounds is favored in the short term, while the daily chart supports buying on dips. It is preferable to wait for the hourly signal to improve before entering longs.
GBP/USD 1.3580
The 5-minute chart is Neutral, the 15-minute and hourly charts are Strong Sell, and the daily chart is Strong Buy.
GBP/USD is also experiencing a short-term downward correction within its daily uptrend. As EUR/GBP is Buy on the hourly and daily charts, sterling’s relative strength has weakened somewhat recently.
USD/JPY 159.43
The 5-minute, 15-minute, and hourly charts are Strong Buy, while the daily chart is Buy.
USD/JPY is one of the clearest uptrends among the major currency pairs. Dollar buying and yen selling are aligned from the short-term through the daily chart, favoring buying on dips. However, as the pair approaches 160.00, caution is needed for intervention concerns and sudden profit-taking.
USD/CHF 0.8056
The 5-minute chart is Strong Sell, the 15-minute chart is Sell, the hourly chart is Strong Buy, and the daily chart is Neutral.
Short-term dollar selling is dominant, while the hourly chart signals a rebound. The conflict across timeframes makes this a difficult market to pursue aggressively.
AUD/USD 0.7180
The 5-minute and 15-minute charts are Sell, the hourly chart is Buy, and the daily chart is Strong Buy.
AUD/USD retains its daily uptrend, but short-term charts are correcting. It is preferable to wait for short-term signals to turn higher again and look for renewed upside from a pullback.
NZD/USD 0.5944
The 5-minute chart is Buy, the 15-minute and hourly charts are Strong Sell, and the daily chart is Strong Buy.
Although there is a short-term rebound, the hourly correction remains dominant. The key is to confirm that short-term selling has run its course before seeking daily-trend longs.
■ JPY Crosses
EUR/JPY 185.66
The 5-minute chart is Strong Buy, the 15-minute chart is Buy, the hourly chart is Neutral, and the daily chart is Strong Buy.
The short-term trend is upward, but momentum is not yet fully established with the hourly chart remaining neutral. The basic approach is to buy dips in line with the daily trend, ideally after confirmation of an hourly Buy signal.
GBP/JPY 216.48
The 5-minute and 15-minute charts are Neutral, the hourly chart is Sell, and the daily chart is Strong Buy.
The daily uptrend remains intact, but the hourly correction continues. With little short-term direction, a wait-and-see stance is preferable for now.
CHF/JPY 197.92
The 5-minute, 15-minute, and hourly charts are Strong Buy, while the daily chart is Neutral.
CHF/JPY has a very strong uptrend from the short-term through the hourly timeframe. The neutral daily chart calls for some medium-term caution, but buying on short-term dips is favored.
AUD/JPY 114.47
All timeframes are Buy, with the 5-minute, hourly, and daily charts at Strong Buy.
Australian dollar strength and yen weakness are combining to create a powerful uptrend. Buying on dips remains favored, making this one of the most notable yen crosses.
NZD/JPY 94.76
The 5-minute and 15-minute charts are Strong Buy, the hourly chart is Neutral, and the daily chart is Strong Buy.
The short-term trend is firm, but hourly momentum has slowed slightly. Rather than chasing the short-term advance, it is preferable to wait for renewed upside confirmation on the hourly chart.
CAD/JPY 114.87
All timeframes are Buy, with the 5-minute, 15-minute, and hourly charts at Strong Buy.
WTI crude is also Strong Buy in the short term, supporting the Canadian dollar. Alongside USD/JPY and AUD/JPY, CAD/JPY remains favorable for buying on dips.
EUR/GBP 0.8576
The 5-minute chart is Sell, the 15-minute chart is Neutral, and the hourly and daily charts are Strong Buy.
The pair is correcting in the short term, but the euro remains favored from the hourly through the daily chart. Once short-term selling subsides, EUR/GBP becomes a buy-on-dips candidate.
AUD/NZD 1.2080
The 5-minute chart is Strong Sell, the 15-minute chart is Neutral, and the hourly and daily charts are Buy.
Short-term correction and medium- to long-term uptrend are conflicting. Rather than chasing the sell-off, it is preferable to monitor whether short-term selling subsides while respecting the hourly and daily Buy bias.
EUR/CHF 0.9381
The 5-minute, 15-minute, and hourly charts are Sell, while the daily chart is Strong Buy.
Euro selling and Swiss franc buying are dominant from the short-term through the hourly timeframe. Although the daily uptrend remains, selling on short-term rebounds is favored for now.
■ Commodities
Gold $4,580.89
Silver $68.1835
Gold and silver are Strong Sell from the 5-minute through the hourly charts, while both remain Strong Buy on the daily chart.
The medium- to long-term uptrend remains intact, but short-term profit-taking is increasing at elevated levels. Avoid chasing highs and wait for the hourly chart to improve from Neutral to Buy before considering dip-buying opportunities.
WTI Crude Oil $82.28
The 5-minute and 15-minute charts are Strong Buy, the hourly chart is Buy, and the daily chart is Neutral.
Short-term buying is dominant. The daily chart is neutral, so the medium-term uptrend is not yet clear, but WTI is a short-term buy-on-dips candidate.
Natural Gas 2.902
The 5-minute and 15-minute charts are Strong Sell, the hourly chart is Neutral, and the daily chart is Strong Buy.
Natural gas is undergoing a short-term correction within its daily uptrend. As with gold and silver, it is preferable to wait for short-term selling pressure to fade.
BTC/USD $79,976
The 5-minute chart is Neutral, while the 15-minute, hourly, and daily charts are Strong Buy.
Although short-term direction is limited, BTC has aligned Buy signals from the 15-minute chart upward. After consolidation in the $79,000 range, renewed upside is likely to remain in focus. The basic strategy is to buy on dips.
■ Equity Markets
The DAX is Strong Buy from the short-term through the daily chart, making it the strongest major equity index.
The Dow is experiencing short-term selling but retains Buy signals on the hourly and daily charts. It is a buy-on-dips candidate after the short-term correction.
The S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 are Strong Buy on the hourly chart, but short-term conditions are weak and the Nasdaq 100 remains Sell on the daily chart. Short-term rebounds and medium-term corrections are overlapping, which may lead to volatile trading.
The FTSE 100 is Strong Sell on the hourly chart and Neutral on the daily chart. Direction is unclear, making it difficult to trade aggressively.
The CAC 40 is Strong Sell from the short-term through the daily chart. It is the weakest major equity index, with selling on rebounds favored.
The Nikkei Average is supported in the short term, but the hourly chart is Neutral and the daily chart is Sell. Rather than chasing the short-term rebound, attention should remain on the conflict with the daily downtrend.

■ Points of Caution
USD/JPY, AUD/JPY, and CAD/JPY have aligned bullish signals, but rapid corrections can occur after yen selling accelerates. In particular, USD/JPY requires close attention to headlines and official remarks as it approaches 160.00.
Gold and silver remain Strong Buy on the daily chart, but their short-term signals are clearly bearish. Even while maintaining a bullish medium-term view, it is safer to wait for the short-term decline to stabilize.
The CAC 40 has aligned Sell signals across all timeframes. Avoid contrarian long positions for now.
