Price Action 10 Setups EA
Price Action 10 Setups EA automates ten classic bar-by-bar price-action setups — the patterns that discretionary price-action traders consider the most reliable: major trend reversals, final flags, breakouts, High 2 / Low 2 pullbacks, wedges, channels, measured moves, trading-range reversals, opening reversals and magnet (breakout) tests. Every setup is a fully coded rule set with a precise entry, stop and target, so the EA trades the patterns the same way every time.
One EA on one chart trades a whole portfolio. Each market can use only the setups that suit it, e.g. XAUUSD:BO|MAG|CH,AUDJPY:WDG (the default H4 portfolio). Ready-made presets for H4, H1 and M15 portfolios are available — see Presets below.
How it trades
- Entry: on the close of a signal bar, a stop order one tick beyond the signal bar (buy stop above a bull signal bar, sell stop below a bear signal bar). The market has to confirm the setup by trading through the bar.
- Expiry: an order that is not triggered within N bars (default 1) is cancelled.
- Stop loss: beyond the extreme of the setup (pullback low, test low, breakout bar, ...) plus a small ATR buffer.
- Target: the setup's own structural target where it has one (measured move of a range or of leg 1, trading-range target), otherwise a fixed reward:risk (default 2R).
- Signal bar quality: trend bar closing near its extreme, minimum body, maximum size — all adjustable.
- Every distance is measured in ATR, so one set of parameters works on forex, gold, silver, indices and oil.
- Long and short rules are exactly symmetric (the bear side runs the same code on mirrored prices).
The ten setups
- MTR — Major trend reversal: a trend, a counter-move that breaks the trend line (closes beyond the 20 EMA), then a test of the extreme (higher low / lower high or a small new extreme) → enter on the reversal.
- FF — Final flag: late in a trend, a small horizontal flag breaks out to a new extreme and fails → enter the reversal back through the flag.
- BO — Breakout: a strong trend bar closes beyond the recent range → enter on follow-through, target = measured move of the range height.
- H2L2 — High 2 / Low 2: in a trend, a two-legged pullback to the EMA area → enter on the second-leg signal bar.
- WDG — Wedge (three pushes): three pushes against the trend with bounces in between → enter the reversal after the third push.
- CH — Channel: a trend channel line through the last two swing points is tested again → enter the reversal at the line.
- MM — Measured move: leg 1, a 30–70 % pullback, then entry for leg 2 = leg 1 (target set to the projection).
- TRR — Trading-range reversal: flat EMA and two-sided trading; a test or failed breakout of the range extreme → enter toward the other side of the range.
- OR — Opening reversal: within 90 minutes after a session open, a fast move into a magnet (prior-day high/low, EMA, pre-open extreme) reverses → enter the reversal. Session opens are adjustable (default London and New York for brokers on GMT+2/+3).
- MAG — Magnet / breakout test: after a breakout of a prior swing point or the prior-day high/low, price comes back to test the breakout level → enter the continuation.
Portfolio from one chart
- Symbols input: comma-separated markets, each optionally with its own setup list: USDJPY:MM,US30:OR|H2L2,XAUUSD. Leave it empty to trade only the chart symbol with the enabled setups.
- Broker names are resolved automatically (suffixes such as .a, m, .pro, #). The EA prefers the variant your account can actually trade; every mapping is printed in the Experts log.
- Signal timeframe input (default H4) — the EA can be attached to a chart of any symbol and timeframe.
- One trade per symbol, or one per symbol and setup (default); optional limits per day and across the portfolio.
- Each setup uses its own magic number (base + setup number), so results per setup are easy to read in the account history.
Presets
The default settings are the H4 portfolio. For the other portfolios set the Symbols and Signal timeframe inputs as shown (all other inputs stay at their defaults):
- H4 portfolio (default): XAUUSD:BO|MAG|CH,AUDJPY:WDG — signal timeframe H4.
- H1 portfolio: USDJPY:MM,EURUSD:FF,GBPUSD:FF,XAUUSD:FF|MTR,USTEC:OR,US30:H2L2,JP225:MTR,AUDUSD:TRR — signal timeframe H1.
- M15 portfolio: US30:OR,JP225:TRR,XAUUSD:TRR,USTEC:OR — signal timeframe M15.
- Gold only: XAUUSD with all ten setups — signal timeframe H4.
The three portfolios can run together on three charts (each with its own magic number); use about half the risk per trade in that case.
Risk management
- Position size from the stop distance: risk % of balance (default 0.5 %), fixed money risk or fixed lots.
- Margin check before every order (the lot is reduced until it fits), broker volume limits respected; optional use of the minimum lot when it risks at most N × the target.
- Spread filter (fraction of ATR) and minimum stop of 4 × spread; minimum / maximum stop in ATR.
- Optional break-even at N × R, optional time exit after N bars, trading-hours filter (server time).
- Orders, cancellations and modifications are only sent while the symbol's trading session is open.
- Optional higher-timeframe trend filter (D1 close vs rising / falling 20 EMA) for all setups or only for with-trend setups.
Telegram notifications
- Choose the events: new signal (order placed, with entry, stop, target, R multiple, lots and money at risk), fill, close (profit in money and R, reason, holding time), cancelled order, break-even, errors, EA start / stop and a daily summary.
- Choose the setups that send messages (ALL, or e.g. BO|MAG|FF).
- Optional chart screenshot with signals, fills and closes (or with every event); the signal bar is marked with an arrow and the setup code.
- A label per EA instance keeps messages from several charts apart. Setup: create a bot with @BotFather, enter the token and chat id, and allow WebRequest for https://api.telegram.org (Tools → Options → Expert Advisors).
Backtest
MetaTrader 5 Strategy Tester, IC Markets data, January 2022 – October 2026, 10 000 USD start, 0.5 % risk per trade:
- H4 portfolio (default settings), every tick based on real ticks: net profit +8 743 USD (+87 %), profit factor 1.40, 584 trades, win rate 42.8 %, maximal equity drawdown 5.7 %.
- H1 portfolio, every tick based on real ticks: net profit +59 925 USD (+599 %, compounding), profit factor 1.18, 3 181 trades, win rate 35.3 %, maximal equity drawdown 13.4 %.
- M15 portfolio, every tick based on real ticks: net profit +22 711 USD (+227 %, compounding), profit factor 1.11, 2 946 trades, win rate 34.9 %, maximal equity drawdown 13.9 %.
How the portfolios were chosen: every setup was tested on 21 markets (forex, metals, indices, oil) and three timeframes. Averaged over all markets the setups are close to break-even after spread, so the EA is designed to trade only the market / setup / timeframe combinations that were profitable both in 2022–2024 and in 2025–2026 and stable across different targets. Because both periods were used for that choice, past results overstate what to expect. Run the EA on a demo account first and use a risk you are comfortable with.
Recommendations
- Any broker and account type (hedging or netting); ECN / raw-spread accounts are preferable for the H1 and M15 portfolios.
- A VPS for uninterrupted operation. Attach the EA to one chart only per preset.
- Check that the opening-reversal session times match your broker's server clock if you use the OR setup.
