Bitcoin Trend Rider EA
Bitcoin Trend Rider EA is a trend-following and volatility-breakout Expert Advisor for BTCUSD, ETHUSD and other crypto CFDs. It stays out of sideways and dead markets, enters only when a trend is confirmed, puts a hard ATR stop on every order and lets winning trends run with a chandelier trailing stop. No grid, no martingale, no averaging down, no hedging tricks.
Everything is visible: every input is in the Inputs window, the ready-made setups are listed below, and the logic is explained on this page. The backtests shown were run with real ticks and split into an in-sample and a later out-of-sample period.
Launch price 249 USD for the first 10 copies, then 399 USD. Rent: 69 USD / 1 month, 149 USD / 3 months. Try the free demo in the Strategy Tester first.
How it trades
- 1. Regime filter — a trade is only possible when the market is trending: ADX above the threshold, the ATR volatility percentile inside a band (no quiet drift, no extreme spikes) and the EMA 50 / EMA 200 stack pointing the same way as the price. The dashboard shows the regime of every symbol: TREND UP, TREND DOWN, RANGING, QUIET or EXTREME VOL.
- 2. Entries — a Donchian breakout (close beyond the N-bar channel in the trend direction) or a Keltner pullback (the bar dips to the EMA 20 mid-line and closes back in the trend direction). Entries far away from the mid-line are skipped (no chasing).
- 3. Exits — ATR hard stop on every order, break-even after a set profit in R, chandelier ATR trailing stop, close on a regime flip, optional take profit and time stop.
- 4. Pyramiding with a strict total-risk cap — up to N added units per trend, only after price moved k × ATR further and every open unit is already at break-even or better. The sum of the open risk of all positions on all symbols never exceeds the cap you set (for example 3 % of the balance).
Made for crypto CFDs
- Broker contract specs: lot size is calculated from the tick value, so any contract size works (1, 10, 100 coins per lot); volumes follow the minimum, maximum and step; stops respect the stop and freeze levels; the filling mode is detected automatically.
- Minimum lot check: when the stop is too wide for the minimum lot, the EA uses the minimum lot only if it risks no more than N × your target, otherwise the trade is skipped and the panel says why.
- Symbol names are found automatically: suffixes (.a, m, .r, .raw, .pro, #, ...) and aliases such as XBTUSD / BTCUSDT for BTCUSD. Close-only variants are skipped in favour of the tradable one.
- Weekend handling: trade normally, no new entries on Saturday and Sunday, or close everything on Friday evening.
- Low-liquidity hours: optional window without new entries.
- Spread guard: maximum spread as a share of ATR and/or in price units.
- Swap awareness: many brokers charge long crypto positions a daily swap (often about 20 % per year). The optional swap guard closes a position when its accumulated swap exceeds a share of its initial risk while it is still below a minimum profit in R.
- Margin check before every order; the volume is reduced to fit the free margin.
Portfolio from one chart
- Symbols input: leave it empty to trade the chart symbol, or enter a list such as BTCUSD,ETHUSD to trade a portfolio from one chart.
- The total-risk cap and the prop-firm guards work across the whole portfolio.
Prop-firm guards
- Daily loss limit in % of the day-start balance (floating loss included).
- Maximum drawdown from the equity peak.
- Maximum new trades per day.
- When a guard trips, new entries stop and (optionally) all EA positions are closed. The daily guard resets on the next server day.
Dashboard
- Regime card per symbol: regime, ADX, volatility percentile, ATR and the current signal state (e.g. "Long setup: close above 68,250 or pullback", "Spread too wide", "In trend: long 2 units").
- Open-risk meter: money at risk against the cap and the number of open units.
- Prop-firm meters: daily loss and drawdown against their limits.
- Statistics: trades, win rate, profit factor, net profit, today, open P/L.
- Buttons: pause / resume entries, close all, dark / light theme, minimise. Drag the header to move the panel. Scales with the screen DPI.
Backtest
Strategy Tester, IC Markets demo, every tick based on real ticks, 10,000 USD, 0.5 % risk per unit, default inputs, spread and swap included. Parameters were chosen on 2023-01 to 2025-06 (in-sample) and then run unchanged on 2025-07 to 2026-10 (out-of-sample).
- BTCUSD H2, 2023-01 to 2026-10: net +11,551 USD, profit factor 2.08, max equity drawdown 8.7 %, 228 trades. In-sample PF 2.23, out-of-sample PF 1.86.
- ETHUSD H2: net +4,961 USD, PF 1.70, max drawdown 17.1 %, 185 trades. In-sample PF 1.86, out-of-sample PF 1.54.
- BTC + ETH portfolio H2 (one chart): net +21,589 USD, PF 1.84, max drawdown 20.4 %, 412 trades. In-sample PF 2.02, out-of-sample PF 1.64.
- The same settings were also tested on M15, M30, H1 and H4: only H2 was profitable in both periods on both coins, so H2 is the recommended timeframe.
- Expect a win rate of about 20-28 % and long flat periods between strong trends.
Ready-made setups
The defaults are the BTCUSD H2 setup, so the EA works out of the box on a BTCUSD H2 chart. The other setups only change these inputs (no private message needed):
- BTCUSD H2 (defaults): Symbols empty, Risk 0.5 %, Total risk cap 2 %, Daily loss 5 %, Max drawdown off.
- ETHUSD H2: the same inputs on an ETHUSD H2 chart.
- BTC + ETH portfolio H2: Symbols = BTCUSD,ETHUSD on any H2 chart; everything else default.
- Prop firm: Symbols = BTCUSD,ETHUSD, Risk 0.2 %, Total risk cap 0.8 %, Daily loss 4 %, Max drawdown 10 %, Max trades per day 4, Close positions when a guard trips = true.
Recommendations
- A broker with low crypto spreads (raw / ECN account). Check the swap of long crypto positions at your broker.
- Hedging account recommended (pyramiding needs separate positions). On netting accounts the EA keeps one position per symbol and does not pyramid.
- Start with 0.5–1 % risk per trade and a total-risk cap of 2–3 %. Test on a demo account first.
- Run on a VPS: crypto trades 24/7.
Important
Trend-following systems earn most of their profit in a few strong trends and give back small amounts in choppy periods; losing streaks are normal. Backtest results are not a guarantee of future results. Trading leveraged crypto CFDs carries a high risk of loss.
