How to Master VWAP Ultimate Pro (MT5 & MT4) — A Step‑by‑Step User Guide

1  Installing the Indicator

  1. Open MetaTrader (MT4 or MT5) → Market tab → search for “VWAP Ultimate Pro” (MT5) or “VWAP Ultimate Pro MT4”.
  2. Click Buy / Download.  The terminal will restart automatically.
  3. In the Navigator, expand Indicators → Market and drag VWAP Ultimate Pro onto any chart (M1–H4 recommended).

2  VWAP in 60 Seconds

  • VWAP – the Volume-Weighted Average Price used by professional traders to gauge fair value and session bias.
  • Anchored VWAP – pins the calculation to an event (swing high/low, breakout, economic release, etc.). Anchors are set by clicking on the chart.
  • Session VWAP – restarts each trading session (Asia, Europe, US or custom hours).
  • Dynamic Bands – sigma (σ1 – σ3) or percentage bands highlight stretched prices.
  • Daily Reset Mode (Forex) – optionally reset the daily VWAP using New York 17:00 rollover to match the institutional Forex trading day (DST-aware).
  • VWAP Source – choose which price to weight: Close, Open, High, Low, HL2, HLC3, OHLC4.

3  Quick-Start Checklist

  1. Attach the indicator – the default preset shows the Session VWAP with σ1 – σ3 bands.
  2. Select VWAP Source in the panel (default = HLC3).  Close or Low often works well for mean-reversion; OHLC4 for intraday momentum.
  3. If you trade Forex and use Daily VWAP, consider enabling New York 17:00 rollover daily reset in the inputs for accurate session boundaries.
  4. Observe price behaviour:
    • Bounce on VWAP ⇒ trend bias remains intact.
    • Close below VWAP combined with σ1 cross ⇒ potential momentum reversal.
  5. Toggle alerts directly from the panel.
  6. To set an Anchored VWAP, change Anchor View (see below) to “Only” or “Overlay”, click the mouse-toggle button, hover over the desired candle to preview the anchor and click to fix it.  Click the vertical marker to remove the anchor.

⚠ Important Note for MT4 Users

  • Email alerts: MT4’s SendMail() relies on legacy protocols and many modern SMTP servers may reject the connection. Push notifications or on-chart pop-ups are recommended.
  • Volume: MT4 supplies tick volume only.  MT5 may use real volume on supported markets.  The indicator auto-switches, but minor differences may appear depending on symbol and broker feed.
  • Alert icons: MT4 may draw “+ / –” icons instead of arrows.  Functionality is unchanged.

4  Control Panel & Settings – Every Option Explained

Control / Setting Description / When to Use
VWAP Mode Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, Yearly, Session.  Select the timeframe that suits your strategy.
Daily Reset Mode Applies to Daily VWAP. Choose how the trading day resets: Broker Midnight (default), UTC Midnight, or New York 17:00 Forex rollover (DST-aware). The NY 17:00 option is recommended for Forex session accuracy.
Anchor View Off (hide anchored VWAP/bands), Only (show only anchored VWAP/bands), Overlay (display anchored VWAP/bands alongside the selected VWAP Mode).  An anchor must be set via the mouse-toggle button.
VWAP Source Choose Close, Open, High, Low, HL2, HLC3, OHLC4.  HLC3 (default) balances noise and signal.
Bands Display None, up to σ1 / σ2 / σ3.  Bands recalculate in real-time.
Bands Base Standard Deviation (default) or Percentage of VWAP.
Volume Spike Filter Optional median-based volume spike clamp to reduce abnormal tick-volume outliers and keep VWAP/bands smoother. OFF by default. Enable only if you notice rare feed spikes affecting the VWAP.
Spike Lookback Number of bars used to estimate the median volume. Higher values are more stable but may be slightly heavier on very low-end PCs.
Spike Multiplier Volume threshold relative to the median (e.g., 5.0 = clamp spikes above 5× median). Lower values clamp more aggressively.
Shift Offset all lines left or right – useful for screenshots.
Hide ≥ D1 Stop drawing on daily/weekly charts to keep higher-timeframe charts clean.
Display Values Show a compact legend (VWAP and bands) in the top-right corner.
Use Tick Volume Forced ON in MT4; optional in MT5.
Colour Mode Toggle between Dark and Light panel themes to match your chart.

5  Practical Trading Scenarios

5.1 Intraday Mean-Reversion

  • Timeframe: M5–M15.  Use Session VWAP.
  • Fade extremes when price pierces σ2/σ3 and snaps back to VWAP.
  • Target the VWAP; stop beyond σ3.

5.2 Trend Continuation

  • Set an anchor at a news-candle low (via Anchor View and mouse-toggle).
  • Stay long above anchored VWAP; add on σ1 pullbacks.

5.3 Breakout Confirmation

  • Apply Daily VWAP on M30.
  • For Forex, consider using New York 17:00 rollover reset so the daily VWAP reflects the institutional trading day.
  • Trade only breakouts aligned with the VWAP slope.

6  Alert Centre – Push / Email / Telegram

  1. Push: Tools → Options → Notifications → enable and enter your MetaQuotes ID.
  2. Email (MT5): set SMTP in Tools → Options → Email, tick “Enable”, then flip Email Alert in the panel.
  3. Email (MT4): Legacy SSL limits delivery – prefer push/pop-up.
  4. With Closed Price, alerts fire only after candle close.
  5. Telegram (MT4 & MT5): attach the free utility Alert Relay Helper on one chart – step-by-step blog guide.

7  Tips, Performance Tweaks & FAQs

  • Lag? Disable σ2/σ3 bands or hide the legend on low-end PCs.
  • Forex daily VWAP feels “off”? Enable New York 17:00 rollover daily reset for correct Forex session boundaries.
  • VWAP jumps due to rare volume spikes? Turn on the Median Volume Spike Filter (OFF by default) and adjust Spike Multiplier if needed.
