A Note on Transparency

High-risk settings were tested from July–September. The result was a loss. Those settings have been retired. The EA is now back on safer, lower-risk configurations — and the results speak for themselves.

Quick FAQ

Q: Which timeframe should I use?

Any timeframe you're comfortable reading. The EA handles the logic.

Q: My broker uses a different digit count (2, 3, 4, or 5). What do I do?

For parameters labeled "in points" — remove a zero for fewer digits, add a zero for more. Simple adjustment, works across brokers.

Q: What leverage is recommended?

1:2000 is ideal. Note that some brokers reduce leverage during the day — keep this in mind when running automated strategies.

Yes, this EA works on XM with GOLD (XAUUSD). Please make sure you use the correct .set file matching your account digits and trading conditions for optimal performance

Please be patient. The .set file is working as intended. Due to high market volatility last week, the EA’s entry conditions were not met, which is why no trades were opened.

You can disable hedging by going to the Hedging settings and setting the option to false.

The timeframe used for trading depends on the strategy settings you select.
The chart timeframe displayed on your screen is not important for the EA’s operation.
You can choose any timeframe that is most comfortable and easy for you to monitor.

Hello! First of all, thank you so much for sharing the Cannon Trend EA. It performs excellently on Gold (XAUUSD), and I sincerely appreciate your selfless sharing and effort!

I have found a small detail that can be optimized when using the hedge stop-loss mode, and I hope you can improve it in a future version.

Here is the scenario:

I sell 0.01 lot of Gold at 5000. When the price rises to 5020, the EA automatically opens a total of 0.03 lot long positions for hedging (0.01 + 0.01 + 0.01).

Then the price rises further to 5025; the account is still in a small loss.

But the price does not continue rising and falls back to 5020, at which point the loss is about 10 USD.

I hope that at the 5020 level, the EA can close the 0.03 hedge long positions first.

If we do not close them and the price continues falling to 5008, the 0.03 lot long will create a much larger loss.

At 5008, the total loss becomes significant:

(5008 – 5000) = 8 USD on the initial short

(5008 – 5020) × 3 = –36 USD on the hedge longs

Total loss = 44 USD

Suggested optimization logic:

Please add a function:

When the price pulls back to around the hedge opening price (5020),

the EA closes all reverse hedging long positions (0.03 lot) first to prevent further losses if the price continues falling.

If the price moves up again, the EA can resume opening long positions according to the trend.

This optimization will greatly improve risk control in hedge mode and make the EA more stable in Gold’s volatile market.
