A huge part of the MQL Market trading systems represent the Grid or Martingale strategy.

This is such a popular mechanic that I see no point in explaining the essence of this strategy.

The main goal is to increase volumes in the hope that the market will turn around or a correction will be made.

Most of these systems do not know how to track profits and trail open and profitable positions at all.

It's difficult, but possible. We can always set a breakeven for all open positions through SL when the average profit becomes greater than 0.

Such grids usually have an initial position size of 0.01 lots, then again 0.01 lots, then 0.02 and so on, it depends on the settings.

Therefore, such open positions can be maintained for a long time, 2-5 days, and in this case, the user simply waits for the market to start moving in the opposite direction.

Imagine the market moves down 4000 pips and then 5 days later there is a 1000 pips correction but your system will only take 100 pips profit.

This is very embarrassing and ugly.

Therefore, it is difficult to find the right entry into the market.

But it is even more difficult to find the right way out when you will definitely understand that there is already enough profit and it is time to close positions.

Therefore, if you suddenly use trailing and breakeven of a position or several positions, many also forget about partial closing of large volumes.

What it is ? This is when you can close your large volume in parts.

For example, the market made a strong upward movement and the profit is more than 500 points, but then the market returned to its initial positions again.

Thus, when the market returns down, you will close the position at breakeven and the profit will be very small.

Therefore, another way to get more profit is to close the deal in parts.

For example, when reaching 50 points, close 5%, when reaching 100 points of profit, close already 10%, and so on.

Therefore, when the market turns down, we will close several positions with a profit along the entire height of the trend.

An example of closing a position in parts for a strong movement in the market

DIVO and Amaze already have these features and close large positions automatically, allowing you to get even more profit before the market reverses!

.

So, it doesn't matter if you use the Grid or Martingale or just a manual position, don't forget about this possibility.

Usually I close about 40-50% of profits and only then set breakeven.

Also, I don't recommend using breakeven too close to Rollover.

When a Rollover occurs in the market, the spread can be huge (50-150 pips) and your breakeven is likely to be closed and may even be closed at a loss.

So don't forget about Rollover!
