Donchian-EMA Combined is a professional breakout indicator that merges the classic Donchian Channel with a dual EMA 34 filter (applied separately to High and Low prices), wrapped in a stunning automatic dark-theme engine that transforms your entire chart appearance the moment you attach it.
The core idea is simple: Donchian Channel identifies breakout levels, while the EMA 34 filter ensures you only take breakouts that have momentum confirmation — reducing false signals in ranging or choppy markets. A buy signal fires only when price closes above the Donchian upper band AND above the EMA 34 of High. A sell signal fires only when price closes below the Donchian lower band AND below the EMA 34 of Low.

Donchian Channel Settings

EMA 34 Filter Settings
Parameter | Description |

| EMA Period | The period for both EMA High and EMA Low calculations. Default is 34, a widely used institutional-level moving average period. |
| Use EMA 34 Filter | When true, buy signals require close price above EMA High, and sell signals require close price below EMA Low. When false, all Donchian breakouts generate signals without EMA confirmation. |
How It Works

Donchian Channel calculates the highest high and lowest low over the specified period, drawing upper, lower, and middle (dashed) lines.

EMA 34 High is calculated by applying an exponential moving average to the High price series. EMA 34 Low does the same for the Low price series.

A Buy Signal (up arrow) appears below the candle when:
- Current close breaks above the previous bar's Donchian upper band
- Previous close was still at or below the upper band (confirms it's a real breakout, not a continuation)
- (If filter enabled) Current close is above EMA 34 High

A Sell Signal (down arrow) appears above the candle when:
- Current close breaks below the previous bar's Donchian lower band
- Previous close was still at or above the lower band
- (If filter enabled) Current close is below EMA 34 Low

Theme Engine applies the selected color palette to all 12 available MT5 chart color properties plus 7 indicator plot colors simultaneously on initialization.

Trend Following: This indicator works best in trending markets. Combine with a higher-timeframe trend filter (e.g., only take buy signals when H1 EMA is sloping up) for optimal results.

Period Selection: For scalping on M5-M15, try Donchian Period 10-15. For swing trading on H1-H4, the default 20 works well. For position trading on D1+, consider 30-55.

Theme Switching: You can change themes at any time by opening the indicator settings and selecting a different theme. The chart updates instantly.

Multiple Instances: Avoid attaching multiple copies of this indicator to the same chart, as each instance will re-apply the theme and may cause visual conflicts.
