Green Lantern is an automated trading Expert Advisor (EA) for MetaTrader 5, designed for algorithmic market analysis and automated trade management.
The EA uses a combination of configurable analytical components, including fast and slow averages, an oscillator component, volatility measurements, and signal filters. Based on these components, the algorithm evaluates current market conditions and generates trading signals according to the selected parameters.
Green Lantern also provides configurable position sizing, series management, profit and loss limits, and trailing functionality.
Once installed and configured, the EA can automatically monitor the market, execute trades, and manage positions according to its trading algorithm and the parameters selected by the user.
Algorithm Overview
Green Lantern combines several configurable components for market analysis.
Fast and Slow Averages
FastAveragePeriod and SlowAveragePeriod define the periods of the fast and slow averages used by the signal algorithm.
The relationship between these parameters allows the algorithm to incorporate both faster price changes and more smoothed market dynamics.
Oscillator
OscillatorPeriod defines the period of the oscillator component.
It is used as an additional element in evaluating current market conditions.
Volatility Analysis
VolatilityPeriod defines the period used for volatility evaluation.
The influence of volatility-related components can be adjusted using:

These parameters control the corresponding volatility multipliers used in the signal calculation.
Signal Filtering
The algorithm uses two configurable filtering parameters:

Signal Adjustment
AdjustmentFactor defines the adjustment coefficient used in the signal calculation.
All signal parameters work together as part of the overall algorithm. Changing individual values can affect the frequency and characteristics of generated trading signals.
Position Sizing
Green Lantern supports both fixed-volume and automatic risk-based position sizing.
LotSizeConfig
Default: 0.01
Defines the configured trading volume used by the EA when operating with the corresponding position-sizing mode.
The actual volume is subject to the trading instrument's minimum volume, maximum volume, and volume-step requirements.
RiskAutoMode
Default: true
Enables automatic position sizing based on the configured risk parameter.
When enabled, the EA uses RiskShare as part of its position-sizing calculation.
RiskShare
Default: 20.0
Defines the configured risk share used by the automatic position-sizing logic.
The resulting position volume depends on account conditions, symbol specifications, and broker trading requirements. Users should verify the behavior of the selected configuration in the MetaTrader 5 Strategy Tester and on a demo account before live trading.
Series Management
SeriesCap
Default: 15
Defines the maximum configured number of positions/orders that can belong to a trading series.
VolumeGrowth
Default: 1.6
Defines the volume multiplier used by the series-management logic when changing the position volume between successive positions.
Users should carefully evaluate these settings because increasing the number of positions and applying volume growth can significantly increase overall market exposure.
Protection Mechanism
When the corresponding protection module is enabled, the following parameter is available:
SeriesSafeguard
Default: 40
Provides an additional configurable safeguard for the series-management logic.
This parameter is available only in builds compiled with the corresponding protection functionality.
Profit and Loss Controls
ProfitTarget
Default: 1200
Defines the configured profit threshold used by the trade-management logic.
LossLimit
Default: 1200
Defines the configured loss threshold used by the trade-management logic.
The actual financial value represented by these parameters depends on the trading instrument, position volume, account currency, contract specifications, and broker conditions.
Trailing Management
Green Lantern includes configurable trailing functionality.
TrailActivation
Default: 700
Defines the configured level at which the corresponding trailing logic becomes active.
TrailStep
Default: 200
Defines the trailing step used after activation.
These parameters allow users to adjust how the EA manages an open position after the configured activation condition has been reached.
MetaTrader 5 Technical Parameters
InstanceID
Default: 9009
A unique identifier used by the EA to distinguish its own trading operations from those of other EA instances or manual trades.
When running multiple Green Lantern instances on the same trading account, using different InstanceID values is recommended.
OrderLabel
Default: "Green Lantern"
The text label used to identify trading operations created by the EA.
EcnAccountType
Default: false
Enables the corresponding ECN-specific execution logic when required by the trading account or broker environment.
FillMode
Default: ORDER_FILLING_FOK
Defines the order filling mode used by the MetaTrader 5 version.
The availability of a specific filling mode depends on the trading instrument and the execution settings provided by the broker.
RequoteCap
Default: 10
Defines the maximum configured number of retry attempts used by the trade-execution logic when a trading request requires another execution attempt.
Configuration and Testing
Before using Green Lantern, the following workflow is recommended:

Select the desired trading symbol and timeframe.

Configure fixed volume or automatic risk-based position sizing.

Configure the series-management parameters according to the desired exposure.

Test the EA using the MetaTrader 5 Strategy Tester.

Perform additional forward testing on a demo account.
