Spread & News Sentinel is a professional MetaTrader 5 monitoring indicator designed to give traders greater visibility into two market conditions that can have a major impact on trade execution: spread behaviour and economic news.
Rather than adding another buy/sell signal to the chart, Sentinel focuses on what is happening around the market — monitoring changing spread conditions, highlighting abnormal execution environments and keeping upcoming economic events visible directly from the chart.
Everything is brought together in a compact interactive dashboard with expandable Spread Diagnostic and News Events panels.

Adaptive Spread Intelligence
A spread number by itself tells only part of the story.
A spread that is perfectly normal during one market condition may be unusually expensive during another.
Spread & News Sentinel continuously observes the spread environment and develops a picture of current market conditions. When spreads move outside expected conditions, Sentinel can immediately highlight the change.
The main dashboard provides an at-a-glance view of the current spread environment, while the dedicated Spread Diagnostic window reveals considerably more.
Expand the graph to see how spread conditions have developed over time, identify sudden expansion and observe how the adaptive system responds as market conditions change.
This turns spread from a single number into something you can actually see and understand.
Live Spread Diagnostic
The collapsible Spread Diagnostic panel provides a historical view of spread behaviour directly on your trading chart.
It displays the changing spread alongside the system's current operating threshold, together with sampling information and a time history.
This can be particularly useful for identifying:
- Sudden spread spikes
- Changing broker conditions
- Thin-liquidity periods
- Session transitions
- News-related spread expansion
- Unusual execution environments
When the system is first attached, Sentinel visibly builds its understanding of the current spread environment before providing its full diagnostic status.
Advanced Economic News Monitor
Spread & News Sentinel also brings upcoming economic events directly onto your MT5 chart.
The integrated News Events panel displays upcoming events together with their currency, impact level, scheduled time and countdown.
High, Medium and Low impact events can be included according to your preferences, while configurable before-and-after windows determine when an event should be considered active.
This makes it possible to see both sides of potentially difficult trading conditions:
What economic event is approaching — and what is actually happening to the spread.
Multiple News Sources
The native MetaTrader 5 Economic Calendar is available as the default source and requires no additional WebRequest configuration.
An external economic calendar source is also supported, together with an automatic fallback option for additional resilience.
News-source selection is available directly from the Sentinel dashboard, allowing you to switch sources without digging through indicator settings.
External News Source
If you choose the External news source, enable WebRequest in: Tools → Options → Expert Advisors → Allow WebRequest for listed URL
Add: https://nfs.faireconomy.media
No WebRequest configuration is required when using the default native MT5 Calendar.
Visual Trigger System
Sentinel is designed to get your attention when conditions deserve it.
The dashboard can visually change when spread conditions become abnormal, an economic news restriction becomes active, or required information becomes unavailable.
Optional flashing warnings make important conditions immediately noticeable even when you are concentrating elsewhere on the chart.
For traders who want an additional warning, Sentinel also includes optional trigger alerts with configurable cooldown protection, preventing repeated alerts from becoming distracting.
Interactive Trading Dashboard
The Sentinel dashboard keeps the most important information in one place.
See the current spread condition, adaptive spread status, sampling progress, upcoming news, selected news source, active news window and overall Sentinel state directly on the chart.
From the dashboard you can quickly:
- Enable or disable news monitoring
- Change the active news source
- Open or collapse the News Events panel
- Open or collapse the Spread Diagnostic graph
The panels remain out of the way when you don't need them and expand when you want deeper information.
