Apex Trend Sniper is a trend-following indicator for MetaTrader 4. It identifies directional changes in price by combining a Williams Percent Range oscillator with a multi-layer filter system. Signals are displayed directly on the chart as arrows. The indicator is suitable for use on Bitcoin (BTCUSD), major indices (US30, GER40, NAS100, SPX500) and Gold (XAUUSD).
Operation
The core signal is derived from the Williams Percent Range. When the oscillator crosses defined threshold levels, a directional signal is generated. The calculation period adapts automatically: if a significant price movement is detected over recent bars, a shorter period is applied.
Each raw signal passes through three independent filters before an arrow is drawn on the chart.
The trend filter uses two moving averages on the chart timeframe to determine the current trend direction. Signals that oppose the trend direction are suppressed.
The ranging market filter uses the Average Directional Index to measure trend strength. If the index value falls below a configurable threshold, the market is considered to be ranging and no signals are generated.
The higher timeframe confirmation calculates a second pair of moving averages on a higher timeframe. Signals that conflict with the higher timeframe direction are blocked. Only closed higher timeframe bars are used for this calculation to prevent repainting.
Arrows are drawn only when the signal changes direction. The vertical placement of the arrows relative to the bar range can be adjusted with a dedicated input parameter.
Presets
The indicator includes two built-in presets that configure all internal parameters automatically. The active preset is selected through the TradingMode input.
The scalping preset is intended for one-minute charts. It uses shorter moving average periods and a lower Average Directional Index threshold. The higher timeframe confirmation is set to the 15-minute timeframe when applied to a one-minute chart, and to the one-hour timeframe when applied to a five-minute chart.
The swing preset is intended for one-hour and four-hour charts. It uses longer moving average periods. The higher timeframe is set to four hours for one-hour charts and to the daily timeframe for four-hour charts.
A third option leaves all parameters at the values entered manually by the user, without any automatic adjustment.
Alerts
The indicator supports popup alerts, sound alerts, email and push notifications. By default, alerts are sent only after a signal bar has closed, to avoid notifications based on unfinished bars. Duplicate alerts for the same bar and signal direction are suppressed automatically.
