SMC Fibonacci OTE is a Smart Money Concepts (SMC) indicator for MetaTrader 5 that turns a break of structure into a complete trade plan. It detects the structure shift, anchors a Fibonacci retracement to the exact swing that caused it, shades the Optimal Trade Entry zone, and then hands you the entry, the stop loss and three take profit levels the moment price retraces into that zone.
No manual drawing. No dragging the Fibonacci tool and guessing which swing to anchor it to. It works on any symbol - forex, indices, metals, crypto - on every timeframe, and it does not repaint: every level is fixed on the close of the bar that produced it.
The Setup, Step By Step
1. Structure breaks. Price takes out a prior swing high or swing low, and the indicator marks it as a Higher High or Lower Low. That fixes the direction: buy the dip, or sell the rally.
2. The Fibonacci anchors itself. The retracement is drawn from the swing that started the move to the extreme it reached. As the move extends, the anchor extends with it, so the levels always describe the leg that is actually in play.
3. The entry zone is shaded. The 0.618 to 0.786 band - the Optimal Trade Entry - is highlighted as the area to wait for. Both boundaries are adjustable.
4. Price retraces into the zone, and you get a signal. A BUY or SELL marker appears with a full set of levels drawn on the chart and listed in the panel.
The Levels You Get
- Entry - the middle of the optimal entry zone.
- Stop loss - beyond the swing that started the move, plus an adjustable buffer. This is the price that proves the idea wrong, not an arbitrary distance.
- TP1 - the swing extreme the move already reached.
- TP2 - a 0.272 extension beyond it.
- TP3 - a 0.618 extension.
- Reward to risk for the full setup, calculated for you.
Every multiplier is configurable, so the ladder can be set to match your own plan.
It Follows The Trade, Not Just The Entry
Once a signal is live the indicator keeps score. TP1 and TP2 are marked on the chart as they are reached and greyed out in the panel so you can see at a glance what is left. If the stop is hit after TP1 has already been banked, it says so rather than presenting the result as a plain loss.
And when a new break of structure occurs against an open setup, that setup is closed and marked invalid - because in Smart Money Concepts terms, a break against your idea is exactly what invalidates it. Finished setups stop extending forward, so a closed trade never looks like a live one.
Alerts
Optional alerts on the break of structure, on price reaching the entry zone with the full level set included in the message, on each target being reached, and on the stop being hit. Terminal popup, push notification to your phone, email and sound are all supported and independently switchable. Alerts fire only on confirmed bars and only in real time.
What You See On The Chart
- Higher High and Lower Low markers at every break of structure, with the broken level drawn.
- An auto-anchored Fibonacci retracement with each level labelled by ratio and price.
- The diagonal swing leg the retracement is measured from.
- The shaded optimal entry zone, marked OTE.
- BUY and SELL markers with entry, stop and three targets, each labelled.
- Hit markers as targets are reached, and an invalidation marker when structure turns.
- A dashboard giving direction, the plan in words, the zone boundaries, whether price is in the zone, and the full level set with reward to risk.
Built For Automation
Six indicator buffers are published - break of structure markers, the entry zone upper and lower boundaries, and the current anchor high and low - so an Expert Advisor can read the zone and trade it directly.
What It Does Not Do
This is an analysis tool, not a trading system. It places no orders and makes no claims about profitability. It marks where structure broke, where the retracement zone sits, and what the resulting levels are. Position sizing and the decision to take any setup remain yours.
Requirements and Notes
- Any symbol, any timeframe.
- Signals are confirmed on bar close and do not repaint.
- One setup is tracked at a time. A new break of structure supersedes the previous one.
- Works alongside other Smart Money Concepts tools - order blocks, fair value gaps, liquidity sweeps - as the structure and entry layer.
- One instance per chart.
Input Parameters
Structure
- Swing sensitivity - bars required either side of a swing before it counts. Higher values mean fewer, more significant structure points.
- Label every swing high and low.
- Mark the break of structure.
Fibonacci and OTE
- Shade the optimal entry zone, and its upper and lower retracement boundaries.
- Draw Fibonacci levels, and label them with their price.
- Draw the swing diagonal.
- Keep levels extended to price.
- Past setups kept on the chart.
- Individual switches for the 0.236, 0.382, 0.500, 0.618 and 0.786 levels.
Trade Signals
- Generate a signal when price enters the zone.
- Stop buffer beyond the swing, as a percentage of the leg.
- TP1, TP2 and TP3 extensions beyond the swing extreme.
- How far the signal lines extend, in bars.
- Entry, stop and target line colours.
Alerts
- Alert on break of structure, on entering the zone, on a target being reached, on the stop being hit.
- Alert channels - terminal popup, push notification, email and sound.
- Alert sound file.
Colours, Dashboard and Engine
- Bullish, bearish, zone, Fibonacci line colours and line styles.
- Zone transparency, blended against your chart background so it suits light and dark themes.
- Show dashboard, corner, offsets, font and colours.
- Max bars processed.
