Local Trade Copier by RWBTradeLab
Local Trade Copier copies trades between MetaTrader 5 terminals that run on the same computer or VPS. One file is both sides: an input sets it to MASTER, which sends its trades, or to CLIENT, which copies them.
Overview
Attach the program to a chart on the account whose trades are to be copied and set the role to MASTER. Attach it to a chart on every account that should follow and set the role to CLIENT, each with its own Client ID. Give all of them the same Channel Name. From then on the master's trades are copied to every client of that channel.
The terminals talk to each other through files in MetaTrader's common folder. There is no DLL, no internet connection and no third-party server, and nothing leaves the computer. One master can serve up to 63 clients.
What Is Copied
- Market orders: a new position on the master opens the matching position on every client.
- Closing: a full close on the master closes the copy. A partial close closes the same share of the client's position, rounded to the broker's lot step.
- Stop loss and take profit: a change on the master is passed on to the copy.
- Pending orders: buy and sell limit and stop orders are placed, modified and deleted on the clients, with their expiry time.
The master can copy every trade of its account or only the trades of one Magic Number, which is useful when an Expert Advisor and hand-placed trades share the account.
Lot Size on the Client
Each client decides its own lot size, so accounts of different sizes can follow the same master:
- Same Lot: the master's lot, one to one.
- Fixed Lot: always the lot you set, whatever the master traded.
- Lot Multiplier: the master's lot times a factor.
- Auto Proportional: the master's lot scaled by the ratio of the two account balances. This is the default.
- Lot Per X Balance: a set lot for every step of balance, so the size grows with the account.
- Risk Percent: the lot that risks a percentage of the client's balance over the distance to the master's stop loss. If the master's trade has no stop loss, the client uses the Fixed Lot instead.
Every result is rounded to the broker's lot step and held inside its minimum and maximum. A Max Lot Cap sets your own ceiling, and a trade whose lot falls below the broker's minimum is either raised to the minimum or skipped, as you choose.
Different Brokers and Symbol Names
Clients do not have to be at the same broker as the master. The symbol is matched in this order: a rename you enter yourself (XAUUSD:GOLD;US30:DJ30), the prefix and suffix of the client broker (m, .a, .pro and the like), and finally an automatic match that finds the client's own name for the master's symbol. A symbol that does not exist at the client broker is written to the Experts tab and that trade is skipped.
A symbol filter can limit what a client copies: a whitelist copies only the symbols you list, a blacklist copies everything except them.
The Dashboard
Both roles draw a small panel in the chart corner, in the corner you choose.
- Master: how many clients are live, the open and pending trades it is broadcasting, floating profit or loss, balance and today's result.
- Client: whether it is connected to the master, its lot mode and filter, its open and pending copies, floating profit or loss, balance, today's result and how many signals it has received.
The client's connection state comes from the master's heartbeat, so a terminal that was closed or a channel with no master shows as disconnected. It also reports a second master writing to the same channel, and a copy count that no longer matches the master's.
After a Restart
A client that starts up takes the feed as it stands and copies only what happens from then on, so restarting a terminal never re-copies old trades. Positions that were already copied are found again by their link, so the master can still close or change them. The same deal arriving twice from the terminal, and a pending order that fills while its copy also fills, are both recognised and never produce a second trade.
Inputs
- General: the EA Role, and the Channel Name that ties a master to its clients.
- Master: the Magic Filter and the number of clients to broadcast to.
- Client: the Client ID, the lot mode with its own value, Max Lot Cap, what to do below the broker's minimum lot, maximum slippage, the rename map, broker prefix and suffix, automatic symbol matching, and the symbol filter with its list.
- Dashboard: whether it is shown, and in which corner.
How to Use
1. Attach the program to a chart on the master account and set EA Role to MASTER.
2. Attach it to a chart on each client account, set EA Role to CLIENT and give each one a different Client ID.
3. Enter the same Channel Name everywhere.
4. Allow algorithmic trading on every chart.
5. Choose the lot mode on each client and check the dashboard: the master shows its clients, each client shows Connected.
Important Notes
- All terminals must run on the same computer or Windows VPS. This is a local copier, not a copier over the internet.
- Client accounts must be hedging accounts. On a netting account MetaTrader merges trades into one position per symbol, and one master trade could no longer be matched to one client trade.
- Algorithmic trading must be allowed in every terminal and for every chart, on the master and on the clients.
- A copied trade is filled at the client broker's own price, so the entry can differ from the master's, and the difference is larger on fast markets.
- A trade opened on the master before its client started is not copied; the client begins with what happens after it is running.
- The copier does not give trading advice. Trading involves risk, so use risk management that suits each account.
