BBMA MT4 by RWBTradeLab
BBMA read as one running sequence, not as a pile of separate signals. This indicator plots the three line families the system is built on — Bollinger Bands, Linear Weighted Moving Averages on the High and on the Low, and an EMA on the Close — and then labels the sequence those lines produce, candle by candle, on any symbol and any timeframe.
The Lines
- Bollinger Bands: Upper, Basis and Lower, from SMA 20 with deviation 2
- LW MA Low (5 to 10): the lower band, drawn in green
- LW MA High (5 to 10): the upper band, drawn in red
- EMA on Close: the slower trend reference, default 50
The 5 and 10 period LW MAs are the ones every rule is measured against, and they are what this build draws. The 6, 7, 8 and 9 period averages are not drawn here - see the MT4 Build note below.
The Sequence
- CSM — momentum. LW MA 5 pushes past the outer band and the candle closes even further out.
- EX — the reversal candle. It closes back inside the band while LW MA 5 is still outside it. One EX per CSM: after an EX, only a new CSM can open the door to the next one.
- MTP — the mandatory target. The opposite side LW MA 5/10, reached by price.
- MLV — price tries the outer band again and cannot close beyond it.
- CSD — direction change. A close through the Mid BB that also clears both opposite LW MAs.
- MTM — a pullback that pushes back out through the outer band.
- RE — the re-entry touch that follows a CSM, an MTM or a CSD.
Every label is written at the price it refers to. The structure events — CSM, EX, MLV, CSD and MTM — print on their own cycle's side, so the Upper cycle sits above the candle and the Lower cycle below it. The touch events print at the level that was actually reached, which is the OPPOSITE side: an Upper MTP and an Upper CSM or MTM Re-Entry are all reads of the lower LW MA 5/10, so they sit under the candle, and the Lower cycle's are mirrored above it.
What Is Read When
CSM, EX, MLV, CSD and MTM are structure. They are decided on the CLOSE of a candle and never change afterwards.
MTP and RE are touches, not structure. They are decided the moment price reaches a LW MA 5/10 level, on the running candle, because that is when the level is actually reached.
A touch label cannot be taken back. The running candle carries the heaviest weight inside its own LW MA, so its high and low move toward the level far faster than the level can move away — once the level is reached the condition cannot come undone, and the label stays exactly where it was printed. When the candle closes, the closing pass redraws it in place rather than moving it.

Chart = Alerts, Always
- Drawing and alerts come from ONE state machine over the same rules
- Structure alerts fire on the candle close; touch alerts fire the moment the level is reached, and never fire twice for the same event
- Whatever fires an alert is exactly what you see on the chart
Alerts (off by default)
- 14 alert types: CSM, MTM, EX, MLV, CSD and MTP for the Upper and the Lower cycle, plus Re-Entry Upper and Re-Entry Lower
- The message names the exact re-entry it is — CSD, MTM or CSM — so you always know which one fired
- 3 delivery channels: Popup, Push Notification, Email
- Every alert message includes event, price, symbol, timeframe and time
Inputs
- Lines: BB Period, BB Deviations, BB Shift (visual), the four LW MA lengths, EMA Period

How to Use
Attach the indicator to any symbol and any timeframe. Read the sequence rather than the individual labels: a CSM says momentum has arrived, the EX that follows it is the candle that turns, the MTP is where that turn is expected to pay out, and an MLV or a CSD tells you the band is no longer being respected. MTM and RE mark the places where an existing move offers a second entry. The Pattern Types switches let you strip the chart down to the part of the sequence you actually trade. For best results combine with higher-timeframe structure and your own trade plan.
MT4 Build
This is the MetaTrader 4 build. The BBMA sequence - every rule, every state and every label - is
the same code as the MetaTrader 5 version, so both platforms print the same labels on the same
candles. Two things had to change, because MQL4 cannot express them:
1. MetaTrader 4 allows a custom indicator only EIGHT drawn lines, and the sequence itself needs
exactly eight: the three Bollinger Bands, LW MA 5 and 10 on both the High and the Low, and the
EMA. So the 6, 7, 8 and 9 period LW MAs are NOT drawn in this build, and their period settings
are not offered. They were decoration in the MetaTrader 5 version too - no rule reads them, and
switching them off there changes no label - so nothing about the detection is lost. What you
give up is the filled look of the band, not a single signal.
2. MetaTrader 4 has no indicator handles, so every average is read directly instead of through a
buffer copy. The values are the same.
MetaTrader 4 also has no input groups, so the settings appear as one list with comment headers
instead of collapsible sections. The order and the names are unchanged.
Everything else - CSM, EX, MTP, MLV, CSD, MTM and Re-Entry, the label stacking, the 14 alerts and
the non-repainting behaviour - is identical to the MetaTrader 5 version.
Important Notes
- Scan Length controls how far back the sequence is drawn; the state machine is replayed from scratch over that range on every candle close, so the chart always shows what the closed candles produced
- Push notifications require your MetaQuotes ID in MT4 (Tools -> Options -> Notifications); email alerts require SMTP settings
- Alerts work while the terminal is running
- Default colours are tuned for dark charts — all colours are fully adjustable for light themes
