RiskGuard Pro enforces a daily loss limit, a profit lock and a maximum drawdown on your account - across your manual trades and any other EA you run. It does not open trades and it does not predict anything.
What it does
RiskGuard Pro watches your account equity and enforces three limits you set:
- Daily loss limit - measured against your start-of-day equity.
- Daily profit lock - stop trading once the day has gone well enough.
- Maximum drawdown - measured from your account's peak equity, not from today.
When a limit is reached it alerts you, closes the positions in scope, and holds the account closed until the next trading day or until you press Resume.
What it supervises
Most risk tools only manage their own trades, which is no help if you trade by hand or run an EA you bought from someone else. RiskGuard Pro supervises:
- Whole account (default) - every position, whatever opened it.
- This symbol only - for a single-instrument account.
- One magic number - for running alongside other tools.
Please read this before buying - how enforcement actually works
MetaTrader 5 provides no way for one program to prevent another program, or you, from opening a position. Any tool claiming to block trades outright cannot do what it says.
RiskGuard Pro enforces by closing. When a limit is breached it closes what is in scope, and while the lock is on it closes any new position that appears, logging each one. In practice a trader who keeps opening trades watches each one close immediately. This is close-after-open, not prevent-open. It is a real limit, and it is honest about its mechanism.
The lock survives a restart
If your terminal restarts after a limit was hit, the lock is still in force. A risk tool that quietly forgets is worse than none, because you believe you are protected when you are not. The state is stored and reloaded.
What happens when a limit is hit - the full ladder (v1.1)
Each step is optional and the destructive ones are off by default:
- Alert - tells you, changes nothing.
- Close - closes the positions in scope, once.
- Close and lock - closes, then keeps closing anything new that appears until the next trading day or until you press Resume.
- Close other EA charts (off by default) - closes charts that are running an Expert Advisor, which stops those EAs. Your own analysis charts, and the chart RiskGuard Pro runs on, are never touched.
- Close the terminal (off by default) - shuts MetaTrader down. It waits until your positions are actually flat first, with a timeout, because closing the terminal while trades are open would be the opposite of protection.
A thing no risk tool for MetaTrader can do, including this one: MetaTrader 5 provides no way to switch off the Algo Trading button from inside a program. Doing it needs a Windows API call through a DLL, and DLLs are banned from Market products. So no product sold here can truly prevent an order. Steps 4 and 5 are the strongest enforcement the platform actually allows, and they still work by removing and closing, not by blocking.
Three modes, so it fits how you work
- Alert only - tells you, changes nothing. Good for the first week while you watch it.
- Close - closes positions in scope once, then leaves you alone.
- Close and lock (default) - closes, then keeps the account closed.
Economic calendar filter (optional)
Uses MetaTrader's own calendar. Choose a minimum importance and a window before and after each release. Currencies are taken from the chart symbol automatically.
If the calendar is unavailable - some brokers ship no calendar data, and it is never available inside the Strategy Tester - the dashboard says so in red rather than silently passing everything. A filter that fails quietly is the failure that matters.
Dashboard
Shows state, scope, positions in scope, floating P/L, day P/L, and progress bars for how much of each limit is used, so you can see that you are at 70 percent of your daily loss before you reach it. Buttons: Lock, Resume, Close all in scope.
Settings
- Positions to supervise - Account, Symbol or Magic
- Magic number - only when scope is Magic
- Daily loss limit percent - 0 disables
- Daily profit lock percent - 0 disables
- Maximum drawdown percent - from peak equity, 0 disables
- Action on breach - Alert, Close, or Close and lock
- Economic calendar - enable, importance, minutes before and after, close on news
- Display - show dashboard, X, Y
What this product is not
- It is not a trading strategy and it opens no trades of its own.
- It makes no forecast and offers no signals.
- It cannot recover losses already taken. It limits the next ones.
- It cannot prevent a position being opened - see the enforcement note above.
Requirements
MetaTrader 5, any broker, any symbol. One chart is enough - account-wide scope supervises everything from that single chart. No DLLs.
