What is Sniper Hammer XAU?

Sniper Hammer XAU is an algorithmic trading Expert Advisor (EA) developed exclusively for trading the XAU/USD (Gold/Dollar) pair on MetaTrader 5. Its name reflects its approach: it trades like a sniper, waiting for high-precision conditions before each shot. It doesn't aim to trade frequently, but rather to trade well.

The system combines three technical trend and momentum filters with a Price Action pattern detection engine, a Liquidity Sweep and Fair Value Gap detector, and multi-layered risk management designed to protect capital in one of the world's most volatile markets.

Signal Engine: Triple Confirmation Required

Before opening any position, the EA requires three independent indicators to confirm the same direction. If even one disagrees, the signal is discarded.

The MACD (12/26/9) acts as the primary trend filter: it only allows buys when its main line crosses above the signal line, and sells when it crosses below. The Ichimoku Kinko Hyo (9/26/52) provides momentum insights through the relationship between the Tenkan-sen and Kijun-sen lines, blocking entries against the dominant price structure. The DeMarker (period 14) adds overbought and oversold protection: it prevents buy orders when the price is already in the extreme high zone, and sell orders when it is in the extreme low zone.

This triple barrier is the backbone of the system and the reason why its signals have a high degree of selectivity.

Opportunity Detection: Where the "Hammer" Comes In

Once the three filters align, the EA actively looks for five types of entries:

Liquidity Sweeps are the system's signature pattern. The Expert Advisor (EA) identifies candles that have swept a previous low or high with a wick exceeding 45% of the total range and closed back, indicating that the market absorbed liquidity from retail stops to reverse course. This is one of the most reliable signals in gold.

Fair Value Gaps (FVG) detect price imbalances between three consecutive candles. When the price returns to fill this gap and closes in a favorable direction, the EA evaluates an entry point, assuming the market is seeking to restore balance.

The system also recognizes Pin Bars with a dominant wick of at least 60% of the range, Engulfing candles with a body that completely engulfs the previous candle, and Inside Bars, which indicate compression before a breakout. All these patterns are validated against Ichimoku levels to ensure a solid technical context.

Risk Management: Protect First, Then Gain

The EA automatically calculates position size based on the selected risk mode. For a $1,000 account with a 0.10 lot size, the recommended configuration is fixed percentage mode at 1% of the balance per trade, which limits the maximum loss per trade to approximately $10 under normal conditions.

Each open position has a technical Stop Loss calculated from the pattern that generated it, a Take Profit with a minimum risk/reward ratio of 1.2x (by default set to 3:1 with a 20-pip Stop Loss and a 60-pip Take Profit), a Trailing Stop that is triggered at 8 pips of profit, following the price in 4-pip increments, and a Break Even function that moves the Stop Loss to the entry price plus 2 pips when a 10-pip profit is reached, eliminating the risk of the position.

At the account level, the system imposes a 10% daily loss limit, a minimum free margin control of 50%, a maximum of 5 simultaneous positions, and automatic locking if the spread exceeds 50 pips, protecting against adverse market conditions.

Turbo Mode

Turbo Mode, active by default, extends the analysis to the last 5 candlesticks in search of signals, applies a 1.5x multiplier to the calculated lot size, and activates the Breakout pattern. It is recommended for traders with a higher risk tolerance or in sessions with a defined trend. It can be deactivated in the EA parameters for a more conservative approach.

Real-time Visual Panel

The EA displays the status of each filter on the chart using color coding, marks Liquidity Sweep zones with rectangles and dotted lines at the swept level, highlights FVG in gold, and indicates each detected Pin Bar with an arrow on the candlestick. The chart background is automatically set to dark mode for easier reading during long sessions.

Requirements and Initial Setup

The Expert Advisor (EA) requires MetaTrader 5 with the XAUUSD chart on the M15 timeframe. It is recommended to trade from a VPS with low latency to the broker's server and an ECN or RAW account with a variable spread. To start with $1,000, the optimal configuration is a 0.10 lot size in Fixed Lot mode, or a 1% risk in Fixed Percent mode, with all other parameters at their default values.
