Wave Hunter uses pending orders for trading. It is a scalping strategy for trading breakthroughs. The EA is based on a breakthrough of a channel formed on a specified interval.

Wave Hunter uses trailing and breakeven after reaching a few points of profit, thus cutting a possible loss.

Wave Hunter always has a fixed stop loss. At the same time, the take profit is unlimited, deals are closed based on a different principle.

Trading strategy of the Expert Advisor is the use of the regularity in the price movement, which occurs when price extremums are broken.

Settings

  • LotSize – traded lot if SmartLot is disabled.
  • TakeProfit – profit in points, at which a deal is closed.
  • StopLoss – loss in points, at which a deal is closed.
  • TrailingStop - distance between the deal opening price and the current price, once exceeded the deal trailing starts.
  • TrailingStep - the minimum distance to modify the stop loss (step) relative to the current value of the stop loss.
  • BarsBehind – amount of past bars for setting pending orders.
  • Distance – the minimum distance between the price and the range distance, at which a pending order is placed.
  • CommentStats – show (true)/hide (false) statistics (faster backtesting when set to false).
  • SmartLot – automated selection of a lot for trading.
  • SmartLotSize – the higher the value, the higher the SmartLot parameter (and the higher the risk, recommended to set to 10-30).
  • Time when "Friday closing" happens – the time of the "Friday closing".
  • FridayClosing – select an action:
    • Friday close ignore – do not close orders.
    • Friday close all – close all orders.
    • Friday close market orders – close only market orders.
    • Friday close pending orders – close only pending orders.
  • Time when EA start work – the EA operation start time.
  • Time when EA stop work – the EA operation end time.
  • Close after pinbar – close orders after a Pin bar.
  • MaxSpread – the maximum spread value to allow trading.

The EA works well, easy setup, and if you are as enamored as I am with trend strategies, you will love this wonderful EA. That's right, reoptimize every 3 months with the last 5 months, is the only way to be in profitable settings. It is not the same a configuration of the first of 2015 that now ends in 2017 that is why it is necessary to reoptimize with TDS 2 every few months.

I leave only 2 stars, since the magic number does not work, although you can put one, it really uses others assigned to it, which makes it impossible to follow up on this EA when you combine it with others, as is my case.

EA is not compatible with other EA activity whereas it affects the other open EA orders. I pointed out to the vendor and he said that he will not fix this issue :( I am unable to use the EA in its current form since I cannot trade it on its separate account (I only have 1 live account on VPS). I will revise review based on vendor's willingness and ability to resolve this and other issues with the EA. I do not recommend for live use if you use it with concurrently with other EAs (for now).

Update: Vendor fixed the issue with the EAs magic numbers not affecting the other EAs that are running concurrently. Performance is decent with 80% winrate so far after 14 trades on a live account. I will update review as we move forward.

This is a good EA. I use wave hunter with more modest risk than most, the loosing trades will happen sometimes and when they do they're quite big compared to the wins, so risk setting of 30 could do big damage with more than one or two losers, it would take a long time to recover from... However there are a lot of options for good settings and with more modest risk wave hunter does seem to work well. I've been using it for a month or so and I'll update after another couple of months.
