Gold can develop strong momentum, but it can also reverse sharply within a short period. For this reason, an XAUUSD EA should not be evaluated only by its entry direction or total backtest profit.

Gold Momentum Stable, or GMS, is a MetaTrader 5 Expert Advisor designed mainly for XAUUSD / GOLD on the M5 timeframe.

It uses several internal trading modules to handle selected momentum and reversal conditions. The objective is not to trade as frequently as possible. The EA waits for specific market conditions and permitted trading times.

Three Internal Trading Modules

1. Long Momentum Support

This is the main signal component of GMS.

The module looks for selected upward momentum conditions on XAUUSD M5. It checks recent price movement, trend position, RSI conditions, spread and the permitted trading time before considering an entry.

It is intended to participate in selected upward movements rather than entering after every bullish candle.

2. Short Reversal Support

Gold sometimes rises quickly and then reverses sharply.

This supporting module looks for a possible short-side setup after a strong upward movement. It is not designed as an aggressive short-selling strategy. It is used only when the required reversal conditions appear.

3. Extra Long Reversal Support

This complementary module looks for a possible long-side recovery after a sharp downward movement.

It gives the EA another way to respond when the market is not showing a normal upward momentum setup.

Risk and Position Management

Gold Momentum Stable does not use martingale, grid trading or averaging-down recovery.

The EA does not automatically increase the lot size after a loss. Each position is opened with a Stop Loss.

It also includes:

• Spread filtering
• Trading-time filtering
• Friday closing logic
• Weekend-holding avoidance
• One-position stable mode

The word “Stable” describes the design direction of the EA. It does not mean that trading results will always be stable or that losses cannot occur.

Broker Differences Matter

XAUUSD trading conditions can differ significantly between brokers.

Depending on the broker, the symbol name may be XAUUSD, XAUUSDm, GOLD or another variation. Contract size, tick size, spread, server time, historical data and execution conditions may also be different.

These differences can change entry timing and backtest results.

Before using GMS, traders should check:

• The correct GOLD symbol
• M5 as the testing timeframe
• Spread and commission
• Historical-data quality
• Maximum drawdown
• Number and frequency of trades
• Slippage and execution conditions
• Broker server time

Recommended Testing Process

The free demo can be downloaded from the MQL5 Market page and tested in the MT5 Strategy Tester.

I recommend the following process:

1. Select your broker’s XAUUSD or GOLD symbol.
2. Set the timeframe to M5.
3. Run a backtest using your broker’s historical data.
4. Check drawdown, trade frequency and spread conditions.
5. Compare more than one market period.
6. Run a demo forward test before considering live use.
7. Begin with a low lot size.

Risk Notice

Backtest results do not guarantee future performance. Live results may differ because of spreads, slippage, execution speed, historical data, symbol specifications and changing market conditions.

XAUUSD is highly volatile and can cause rapid financial losses. Always use appropriate risk management and trade only with funds you can afford to lose.
