LONDON SWEEP iFVG INDICATOR
MT5 Trading Indicator
Trade the London Liquidity Sweep. Catch the Inversion. Target the Next Move.
The London Sweep iFVG Indicator is an advanced MetaTrader 5 trading tool designed to help traders identify potential reversal opportunities during the London trading session using liquidity sweeps, Fair Value Gaps (FVGs), and inverse Fair Value Gap (iFVG) confirmation.
Instead of relying on random entries or chasing candles after a strong move, the indicator follows a structured price-action approach that combines liquidity manipulation with confirmation of a potential directional shift.
It automatically scans available Market Watch symbols, identifies qualifying setups on the 15-minute timeframe, and presents potential BUY and SELL opportunities with calculated entry prices, Stop Loss, Take Profit, and risk information.
Whether you trade Forex, Gold, indices, or other supported instruments, the indicator helps you focus on market structure and potential trading opportunities rather than guesswork.
1. HOW THE INDICATOR WORKS
The indicator is built around four essential concepts.
A. Asia Session Liquidity
During the Asian session, price often establishes a trading range.
The indicator identifies:
Asia High: The highest price reached during the configured Asian session.
Asia Low: The lowest price reached during the configured Asian session.
Liquidity Levels: Areas beyond these highs and lows where breakout traders may place stop-loss orders.
These levels provide the reference points for identifying potential London liquidity sweeps.
Why it matters: Rather than entering simply because price breaks a high or low, the indicator looks for a subsequent confirmation pattern.
B. London Liquidity Sweep
During the configured London session, the indicator monitors whether price moves beyond the established Asian range.
A liquidity sweep occurs when price moves above the Asia High or below the Asia Low.
The indicator uses the direction of the qualifying London sweep to establish a potential trading bias.
Sweep of the Asia High: The indicator looks for a potential SELL setup.
Sweep of the Asia Low: The indicator looks for a potential BUY setup.
The sweep alone is not sufficient to generate a signal. The indicator also requires its specified Fair Value Gap inversion confirmation.
C. Fair Value Gap (FVG)
A Fair Value Gap is a three-candle price pattern that identifies a gap between the wicks of the first and third candles.
It is commonly used by price-action traders to identify areas where price moved rapidly and where a potential imbalance may exist.
The indicator searches for a qualifying FVG formed during or after the detected London sweep.
Very small gaps are filtered out using a volatility-based threshold.
D. Inverse Fair Value Gap (iFVG) Confirmation
This is the central confirmation mechanism of the indicator.
An inverse Fair Value Gap occurs when price closes through a previously identified Fair Value Gap in the relevant direction.
The indicator searches for the first qualifying close through the gap.
Its directional rules are:
BUY setup
London sweeps the Asia Low.
A bearish Fair Value Gap forms during or after the sweep.
A subsequently closed candle closes above the gap's upper boundary.
The indicator validates the setup and calculates the trading levels.
SELL setup
London sweeps the Asia High.
A bullish Fair Value Gap forms during or after the sweep.
A subsequently closed candle closes below the gap's lower boundary.
The indicator validates the setup and calculates the trading levels.
The resulting signal is based on a combination of liquidity behaviour and price-action confirmation rather than the sweep alone.
2. HOW TO READ A SIGNAL
When a valid setup is identified, the indicator displays its trading information.
BUY Signal
A BUY signal indicates that the indicator has detected a qualifying sweep of the Asia Low followed by bullish iFVG confirmation.
The proposed trading levels are:
Entry: The close of the confirming candle.
Stop Loss: Beyond the detected sweep extreme, with a configurable buffer.
Take Profit: Calculated using the configured risk-to-reward ratio.
SELL Signal
A SELL signal indicates that the indicator has detected a qualifying sweep of the Asia High followed by bearish iFVG confirmation.
The proposed trading levels are:
Entry: The close of the confirming candle.
Stop Loss: Beyond the detected sweep extreme, with a configurable buffer.
Take Profit: Calculated using the configured risk-to-reward ratio.
Understanding the 1:3 Risk-to-Reward Setting
The default Take Profit setting is 1:3 risk-to-reward.
For example, if the proposed trade has a 100-point risk distance, a 1:3 target would be 300 points from entry.
This is an illustration of the calculation, not a promise that every signal will achieve its target.
Actual trade outcomes depend on market conditions, execution costs, spread, slippage, and other factors.
3. MULTI-SYMBOL SCANNING
One of the indicator's key advantages is its ability to scan symbols in your MT5 Market Watch.
Instead of manually checking every chart for a possible liquidity sweep, you can use the indicator's scanner to identify qualifying opportunities across available instruments.
The scanner can display a list of detected setups, helping you compare opportunities and decide which charts deserve closer attention.
How to use the scanner
Open MetaTrader 5.
Add the instruments you want to monitor to Market Watch.
Attach the London Sweep iFVG Indicator to a chart.
Allow sufficient historical price data to load.
Use the SCAN ALL function to scan the available Market Watch symbols.
Review the displayed signals and their proposed trading levels.
Open the relevant chart to inspect the setup before entering a trade.
Important: The scanner's signals are analytical suggestions. The indicator does not automatically execute trades.
Automatic Scanning
Automatic scanning is enabled by default, with a configured interval of 10 minutes.
The indicator also checks market conditions more frequently through its internal calculation engine.
Signal alerts are tied to the automatic scan process, so a newly forming setup may not produce an alert immediately.
You can adjust the scanning interval in the settings.
4. HOW TO USE THE INDICATOR FOR THE BEST RESULTS
The quality of your trading decisions depends on more than receiving a BUY or SELL signal. Use the indicator as part of a disciplined trading process.
Step 1: Start With the M15 Timeframe
The indicator's entry logic is hard-coded to the 15-minute timeframe.
For the intended strategy, use M15 as your primary analysis chart.
You may examine higher timeframes separately to understand the broader market context, but changing the chart timeframe does not change the indicator's internal entry timeframe.
Step 2: Identify the Asian Range
Allow the indicator to establish the Asia High and Asia Low using your configured session hours.
These levels form the reference range for the London sweep.
Avoid making assumptions about the session boundaries without checking the indicator's settings and your broker's server time.
Step 3: Wait for the London Sweep
Look for price to move beyond one of the Asian range boundaries.
A breakout is not automatically a valid signal.
The indicator requires a qualifying FVG inversion after the detected sweep.
Step 4: Wait for iFVG Confirmation
Do not treat the initial liquidity sweep as confirmation.
Wait for the indicator to identify the qualifying gap and the subsequent candle close through it.
This helps distinguish the intended setup from a simple breakout.
Step 5: Check the Entry, Stop Loss, and Take Profit
Before placing a trade, examine:
The proposed entry price.
The distance between entry and Stop Loss.
The Take Profit level.
The resulting risk-to-reward ratio.
The current spread and execution conditions.
Never increase your position size simply because a signal appears particularly convincing.
Step 6: Check the News Environment
The indicator includes a high-impact economic news filter.
It can display relevant upcoming news and identify conditions around the configured news buffer.
However, news blocking is disabled by default. If you want the indicator to suppress signals during the configured news window, enable InpBlockOnNews.
Remember that unexpected news and sudden volatility can still affect trading conditions.
Step 7: Manage Risk Consistently
A good trading setup can still lose.
Choose a position size that fits your account and risk tolerance. Keep your exposure consistent and avoid increasing risk to recover previous losses.
The indicator includes a risk-based lot-size calculator to help estimate position size using the configured percentage of account balance.
The default risk setting is 1% of the current account balance.
The displayed lot size is a calculation aid, not a guarantee of the exact loss that will occur in live trading.
5. UNDERSTANDING THE INDICATOR'S SETTINGS
The indicator provides several configurable options.
Session Settings
These control the hours used to identify the Asian, London, and New York sessions.
Default settings:
Asia: 00:00–08:00
London: 08:00–13:00
New York: 13:00–21:00
These times are based on broker server time, not necessarily your local time or the official local time of each financial centre.
Adjust them to suit your broker and the session definitions you intend to trade.
Scenario Mode
InpScenarioMode is enabled by default.
In this mode, the indicator uses the London liquidity sweep and iFVG confirmation logic described in this manual.
If you disable it, the indicator switches to a different, older session-based engine involving market-structure shifts and Asia Point of Control (POC) retests.
For the London Sweep iFVG strategy described here, leave Scenario Mode enabled.
Take Profit Risk-to-Reward
InpTP_RR controls the target multiple used in the iFVG trading calculation.
The default is 3.0, representing a 1:3 risk-to-reward target.
Stop-Loss Buffer
InpSLBufferPoints determines the additional distance placed beyond the detected sweep extreme.
Increasing the buffer creates a wider stop and can increase the position risk if the lot size is unchanged.
The indicator also uses an ATR-based fallback when the calculated stop distance is too small relative to volatility.
Risk Percentage
InpRiskPercent controls the percentage of account balance used by the lot-size calculator.
The default is 1%.
A lower risk percentage generally reduces the calculated position size, while a higher percentage increases exposure.
Automatic Scanning
InpAutoScanMinutes controls the automatic Market Watch scanning interval.
The default is 10 minutes.
Setting it to zero disables automatic scanning, allowing manual scans instead.
News Filter
The indicator can display high-impact news information.
You can configure the lead time, the buffer around news events, and whether signals should be blocked during that buffer.
Liquidity and Volume Profiles
The indicator also includes additional analytical components, such as:
Liquidity Thermal Map.
Daily Volume Profile.
Point of Control (POC).
Value Area High (VAH).
Value Area Low (VAL).
Whale Liquidity and Absorption Profile.
Signal and analysis dashboards.
Accumulation, Manipulation, and Distribution visualisations.
These tools provide additional market context.
However, the Scenario Mode's default configuration does not require the liquidity heat tally, Daily Volume Profile, or trend filter to agree with a signal. Those filters are bypassed unless InpScenarioUseFilters is enabled.
Do not assume that every displayed analytical component is automatically filtering every signal.
6. WHAT MAKES THIS INDICATOR DIFFERENT?
Liquidity-Based Analysis
The indicator focuses on the relationship between the Asian trading range and the subsequent London liquidity sweep.
iFVG Confirmation
It requires a qualifying Fair Value Gap inversion instead of treating every sweep as a trading opportunity.
Automated Market Watch Scanning
It helps identify potential setups across multiple instruments without requiring you to inspect every chart manually.
Structured Trade Planning
The indicator calculates entry, Stop Loss, and Take Profit levels using its configured rules.
Risk-Based Lot Calculation
It includes a lot-size calculator based on account balance and the distance to the proposed Stop Loss.
Additional Market Context
Its liquidity map, volume profile, and analysis dashboard provide further information for traders who want to study market behaviour.
Configurable Alerts
Pop-up alerts, push notifications, and sound alerts can help you monitor opportunities while working with other charts.
7. COMMON MISTAKES TO AVOID
To get the best out of the London Sweep iFVG Indicator, avoid these mistakes:
1. Entering before confirmation
A liquidity sweep alone is not the complete setup. Wait for the qualifying iFVG confirmation.
2. Ignoring broker server time
Incorrect session settings can cause the indicator to analyse the wrong trading periods.
3. Taking every signal without reviewing risk
Always check the proposed Stop Loss, Take Profit, spread, and position size.
4. Trading blindly during major news
Sudden volatility can cause slippage and unpredictable price movements.
5. Assuming every signal must win
No trading indicator can predict every market movement correctly. Losses are part of trading.
6. Confusing analysis with automatic execution
This is an indicator, not an Expert Advisor. It provides analysis and trade levels; you remain responsible for executing and managing trades.
7. Ignoring historical-data availability
The scanner requires sufficient price history to evaluate its setup conditions. Allow MT5 to load the necessary data before judging a symbol's results.
8. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Does the indicator execute trades automatically?
No. It identifies setups and provides proposed trading levels. Trades must be executed manually.
Which timeframe does it use?
The internal entry logic uses M15, regardless of the chart timeframe on which the indicator is attached.
Can it scan multiple instruments?
Yes. It scans available symbols in MT5 Market Watch.
Does it use a fixed risk-to-reward ratio?
The default target is 1:3, and the ratio can be adjusted through the settings.
Does it include a lot-size calculator?
Yes. It estimates position size using the configured risk percentage and the proposed entry-to-stop distance.
Does it guarantee profitable signals?
No. Market conditions change, and no indicator can guarantee profitable outcomes.
Can I use it without the additional liquidity and volume-profile visuals?
Yes. The right-side analytical visuals can be disabled through the relevant settings, although the dashboards and other components have their own visibility controls.
