TalonSweep Gold is a fully automated Expert Advisor built around one of the most consistently exploited behaviors in the gold market: liquidity sweeps at recent swing highs and lows. Institutional order flow routinely pushes price beyond an obvious support or resistance level to trigger stop losses and pending retail orders before reversing in the intended direction. Core Strategy Logic
At the heart of the system is a pivot-based support and resistance engine that continuously tracks the most recent confirmed swing high and swing low on the chart. When price wicks below a tracked support level and then closes back above it, while simultaneously trading above the 30-period EMA, the EA recognizes a bullish liquidity grab and prepares a long setup. The mirror condition applies to the short side: a wick above resistance that closes back below it, combined with price trading beneath the 30 EMA, triggers a bearish setup. The 30 EMA filter exists specifically to prevent the EA from fading strong trending moves — it only engages sweeps that align with the broader directional bias on the working timeframe.
Order Execution Model
Rather than firing market orders the instant a signal appears, TalonSweep Gold places a Buy Stop or Sell Stop pending order at the exact high or low of the signal candle. This mirrors how a disciplined discretionary trader would actually execute the setup: waiting for price to demonstrate continuation before committing capital, rather than guessing the reversal in advance. If price does not return to trigger the pending order within the configured window, the EA automatically deletes the stale order on the next new bar and re-evaluates the market fresh. This keeps the account free of orphaned orders and ensures every position taken was validated by genuine price action, not a stale signal from several bars ago.
Risk and Trade Management
Every trade is built around a calculated risk unit derived from the distance between the entry price and the sweep extreme, with a configurable buffer applied to avoid premature stop-outs from noise. From that single risk unit, the EA derives two profit targets: a Partial Book target and a Final Target, both expressed as risk-to-reward multiples so the trade management scales cleanly regardless of the size of the sweep. When price reaches the Partial Book level, the EA automatically closes a user-defined percentage of the position, locking in profit while allowing the remainder to run toward the Final Target. An optional Breakeven feature can be enabled so that once the partial is booked, the stop loss on the remaining position is moved to the exact entry price, removing directional risk from the trade entirely while it continues toward the final objective.
Built for Real Trading Conditions
TalonSweep Gold was developed with live execution reliability as a priority, not just backtest performance. Every stop loss, take profit, and pending order price is validated against the broker's minimum stop distance and freeze level before submission, and lot sizing is checked against available free margin before every order to prevent rejected trades. Position tickets are re-verified immediately before any modification is sent, which eliminates the invalid ticket and invalid stops errors that plague less carefully engineered EAs when running across multiple brokers and account types. The EA operates cleanly on both netting and hedging account structures.
