Crosshair for MT5

A magnet crosshair for MetaTrader 5. The crosshair snaps to candle prices, to the lines and rectangles you draw, and optionally to a moving average, so you can read exact levels without zooming in. It also includes an OHLC readout of the hovered bar, a distance ruler and a compact set of on-chart buttons.

The indicator does not open, close or manage trades. It is a charting and measurement tool.

Magnet crosshair

- Three magnet modes: Off, Weak (snaps only when the cursor is close to a level) and Strong (always snaps to the nearest level).

- Snaps to the Open, High, Low and Close of the hovered bar and, optionally, of neighbouring bars.

- Snaps to your own horizontal lines, trendlines (including rays) and rectangle edges.

- Optional snapping to a moving average with configurable period, method and applied price.

- Hold Ctrl to move the crosshair freely without the magnet.

- A price tag next to the crosshair shows the price and what it snapped to (O, H, L, C, Line or MA).

- Snapped and free-floating lines use separate colours and styles, so you always know when the crosshair is locked to a level.

- The vertical line is shown in all subwindows, so indicator values can be lined up with the price bar.

Bar readout

- Shows symbol, timeframe, bar time, Open, High, Low and Close of the bar under the cursor.

- Shows the bar range in pips or points and the percentage change from the previous close, coloured by direction.

- Updates live while hovering the current, still forming bar.

- Can be placed in any chart corner.

Ruler

- Shift+Click to start a measurement, move the mouse, and click again to fix it. A third click clears it.

- Can also be armed with the Ruler button or a hotkey.

- Shows the price distance in pips or points, the percentage move, the number of bars and the elapsed time.

- The ruler uses the magnet, so measurements can start and end exactly on candle highs, lows or your own levels.

- Esc clears the ruler at any time.

Controls

- Three on-chart buttons: Magnet (cycles Off / Weak / Strong), Cross (show or hide the crosshair) and Ruler.

- Hotkeys for the same actions. Default keys are Shift+M, Shift+X and Shift+R. Keys and the modifier can be changed.

- The buttons and readout can be placed in any corner. When they share a corner they are aligned to the same width.

- The magnet mode and crosshair on/off state are kept when you change the timeframe or symbol of the chart.

Appearance

- Colours adapt automatically to light and dark chart backgrounds. All colours can also be set manually.

- Clean, minimal on-chart text with rounded buttons.

- Scales with Windows display settings on high resolution screens.

- Configurable fonts and font size.

Compatibility

- Optional setting to disable the built-in MetaTrader middle-click crosshair while this indicator is in use.

- Optional setting to disable MetaTrader quick navigation, so single-key hotkeys can be used.

- Original chart settings are restored when the indicator is removed.

- Works on any symbol and timeframe. Several copies can run on different charts at the same time without conflicts.

Input parameters

Magnet

- Magnet Mode: Off, Weak or Strong.

- Magnet Sensitivity: snapping distance in pixels (0 to 300).

- Also check neighbouring bars: number of bars on each side to include (0 to 5).

- Snap to my H-lines, trendlines, rectangles: on or off.

- Snap to a Moving Average: on or off, with MA Period, MA Method and MA Applied Price.

Crosshair Appearance

- Line Color and Snapped Color (None = automatic from the chart theme).

- Line Style for free-floating and snapped states, and Line Width.

- Show price / snap tag beside crosshair.

Bar Readout

- Show OHLC readout, Readout Corner, X and Y offsets.

- Distance Unit: pips or points (used by the readout and the ruler).

- Up Color and Down Color.

Ruler

- Enable Ruler, Ruler Color (up), Ruler Color (down), Fill ruler box.

Controls

- Show on-chart buttons, Buttons Corner, X and Y offsets.

- Button Color (on) and Button Color (off).

- Enable Hotkeys, Hotkey Modifier (Shift + key or key alone), and the key for each action.

Compatibility

- Disable MT5 middle-click crosshair.

- Disable MT5 quick navigation.

Text

- Numbers Font, Labels Font and Font Size.

Quick start

1. Attach the indicator to a chart.

2. Move the mouse over the chart. The crosshair snaps to nearby candle prices.

3. Hold Ctrl for free movement, or press Shift+M to change the magnet mode.

4. Shift+Click to measure a move, click again to fix it, and press Esc to clear.
