What's causing MT5 to drop around 200 times every 24 hours? - page 5

Yes, definitely have a problem...one that MT5 and the broker have refused to even try to find an answer for.  I'm sure someone in the two organizations has had a client with the same issue and that client knows the cure.

I literally opened up the vps, loaded the platform per the broker's link that they provided, put nothing on the chart, took nothing off of the original set up of how the MT5 platform opens up the first time.  There are no indicators, nothing.  It's as original as can be in all ways.

MQL's vps is only for automated systems.  I trade manually/limit orders.

The logs from this morning are attached.  Exactly the same as AWS day.

Did you try to set a server manually ? In the bottom-right corner.

Also, have you tried the MQL VPS? I know, it is not the same as the other VPSes in terms of functionality, but maybe it can have a difference in performance.
This is the key question to be answered. The co-location services of U.S. Futures brokers are attractive because such brokers are located in Chicago--and the CME (centralized exchange) data center is just outside of Chicago. Therefore, those brokers' VPS locations are at least fairly close to the exchange. Anyone who is cavalier enough to scalp Futures is likely attracted thereto because they seek low latency. Alternatively, there are third-party VPS services and mql5 VPS services. It's worth noting that a gateway is required in order for MT5 to accurately communicate with the CME data center. Considering that, it would not be so surprising if all VPS services are not equal in connecting to the MT5 gateway... especially in light of the recent AWS debacle.

Yes, tried to set server manually.  There are only 2 choices, Server New and Server Failover New.  (Failover being the key word here.)

The issue is, I cannot be in front of the computer 24 hours a day to manually move to the failover server and I depend on the platform for potential trade alerts.

Oddly, the server does not seem to be able to connect to the failover on a consistent basis.  I've worked with the broker/data on this.  They reset the data to the point that they removed it and I had to go on line to their website to log in and request it again.

That being said, no one should be expected to babysit something that should work.

Keep going on the ideas.  This is the most helpful anyone has been so far.  I've been using MT4/5 for over 15 years, but I am not technical by any means so do not know the questions to ask.

Sorry your answer is unclear to me. Your logs showed connection to "failover NEW", actually it's not able to stay connected and lost the connection almost immediately, trying again every 2 minutes.

Could you try "Server New" then post the log ? (by the way if possible please send the log file and not pictures of it : right-click inside Journal tab then Open to see the log files).

Also please say us which VPS company you are using ?

Also please say us which VPS company you are using ?  I will pm this to you.

Server New log attached.  Seems the same as the other log pages.

and attached the log from yesterday when the server company set up the second server for me to try and i loaded mt5 on it.

Attached 4 pages of other logs from today.  There are a lot more, but they're all the same.

It seems to me that the exact same thing happens whether I leave the platform alone or if click on Server New or if I click on Failover Server.

It's worth noting that a gateway is required in order for MT5 to accurately communicate with the CME data center.

Is this gateway thing something the VPS company or for the broker has to have set up?  Do you have more information/a weblink so I can look at this more?

thanks!

Seeing how you want those VPS for manual trading, I presume you can live with lower latency, I mean what your home computer may offer.. So, some options could be to have your home PC powered all day, plus a VPN subscription for secure access from outside your home (I would not advice to use Windows built-in remote desktop but it could also be possible); if you find that your home PC is too powerful for that matter, then there are some very low priced mini PCs which could do that just fine for you (I mean, a Intel N100/N97 mini PC has idle power consumption of about 8-10 watts, plus can also be your main computer for browsing or similar)
