What's causing MT5 to drop around 200 times every 24 hours? - page 4

Sorry, was too ticked off at the time with all the run around and passing the buck to see the question.  I was literally told today by their "support" in chat to email support.  Then support replied to the email saying to use the chat.  Then the chat guy told me, 28 days after contacting them about this, that they have nothing to do with it because my computer doesn't have issues, therefore their side doesn't have a problem.  Why not contact MT5 and their other MT5 clients and ask if anyone had experienced this, and, if so, what did they do to fix it?  Nope, not their problem.  Awful customer service.

For me, it's most likely an underprovisioning issue on the VPS - for either of resources: CPU, memory, socket handles, network bandwidth. I'd start to monitor network connection on the VPS.

Your solution is not a solution.  It would take years to get that through.  How is that helpful to trading today?  It's not.

Also, this is NOT an intermittent issue.  This happens every 2 minutes for hours each day.

If you have an actual solution then I'd be happy to hear it.  Otherwise, please don't comment on this thread anymore.

So, to make a clear ..view

a) I believe you should not offend a polite person who, after all, is trying to help you

b) Yon only posted a screenshot confirming your problems, on a day when, as said, happened the "dreaded" Amazon outage..

c) Even if you do have the problems (of that severity) every day, as you are saying, there is also the fact that your home computer behaves.. so why not talk to the VPS providers instead? Or why not demo other VPS providers until finding someone more appropriate?

a) he didn't offer a solution, just a word salad.  Take some time and read a few of his thousands of posts and you'll see what I mean...they are not helpful.  You also were not involved in the pm he sent me instead of him posting to the thread.  Creepy.

b) it's already been made clear in this thread that this is an ongoing issue that has NOTHING to do with AWS.  I first contacted the broker 29 days ago, but it's been going on longer than that.

c) I've tried 4 vps from 2 different companies.

Below is one of the specifications of 1 of 4 dedicated servers that are dropping in at least 3 different buildings in the Chicago area.

2025.10.30 14:41:10.089 Terminal Windows Server 2022 build 20348, 24 x AMD Ryzen 9 9900X 12-Core, AVX2, 121 / 125 Gb memory, 1752 / 1788 Gb disk, RDP, UAC, admin, GMT-6

I'm literally running the mt5 platform and the server exactly as they were provided to me.  Meaning, I haven't changed a thing.  Is there anything in the specs that should be changed?

I will look into how to monitor the network connection of the vps.  What are you thoughts on what I should be looking for?

Thank you for an actionable thing.  I appreciate it.

I think you should look not at the specification, but into terms and conditions. Are you sure all of these resources are physical, but not virtual? Most probably, that despite the name "dedicated server", it is virtualized somehow and hence sharing physical resources of underlying baremetal hardware with other users. You need to run some sort of QOS service on it and make sure the instance is not running into low resources once in a while. If a shortage detected, ask your VPS provider if it's under their conditions (applicable) or not. I remember many of firms specify 99??% of availability, but not 100%, and allow periodic degradation in performance - in other words peak performance is not guaranteed all the time.

May I ask how many symbols do you have in the market watch or how heavy in general is your use? I am just wondering if that can be a problem.. Also, have you tried the MQL VPS? I know, it is not the same as the other VPSes in terms of functionality, but maybe it can have a difference in performance..

Also, I believe you should provide some logs from other days (other than the Amazon)..

Thank you.  I have copy and pasted your thoughts to the vps company.

I literally opened up the vps, loaded the platform per the broker's link that they provided, put nothing on the chart, took nothing off of the original set up of how the MT5 platform opens up the first time.  There are no indicators, nothing.  It's as original as can be in all ways.

MQL's vps is only for automated systems.  I trade manually/limit orders.

The logs from this morning are attached.  Exactly the same as AWS day.

Hehe, "houston we have a problem" I may say :) Well, as for the symbols, I do not remember how many symbols are opened by default when opening AMP's MetaTrader for the first time, but if I am not mistaken there were many? Anyway, as I said in my earlier posts, I do have some 3 symbols opened, so maybe you can give the matter a go as well
