Currently struggling a bit to install several instances of it. Copy paste is what I did for now. IDK how to install it in a custom folder from 0.

Using a different wine prefix is definitely needed, otherwise the history and account of one of them will get replaced! (maybe this happens even with a different prefix, IDK).

As I don't fully understand wine, I could not accomplish getting the .desktop file work with the second MT5. So it only works by clicking on the .exe

MX linux (based on debian) failed to install EA's with the market link in my case, so I use Linux Mint.
 
It's time for a native linux solution... hehe

According to the procedure, I installed MT5 on Ubuntu 22.04.4 LTS and it was a success. But I have a question, there are two files in the /home/"my_user"/ folder, an executable and a script: mt5setup.exe and mt5ubuntu.sh.

Since the Metatrader5 package is in the /home/"my_user"/.mt5 folder, can these files (mt5setup.exe and mt5ubuntu.sh) be deleted from the /home/"my_user"/ folder?

Yes!!! The mt5setup.exe file is the installer and the mt5ubuntu.sh script is the script that automatically installs MT5, so if everything went well when you ran the script and MT5 is already installed and working, you can delete both files.

 
recently i install mt5 on linux and it work good but how to can i install indicator from market metatrader  
 

Hey All.. Basically, I am using WINE and everything works including the marketplace. And this is on a virtual machine in the cloud. If anyone is having trouble with MT5 on Linux here are my tips: 


1.  I use XUbuntu.  Only because I am using a Virtual Machine and it uses less RAM than GNOME.  But any Ubuntu distro should be fine including the main release with GNOME.  If you don't know much about Linux then don't use the minimal version.

2. Install PlayonLinux.  Now if you are using Ubuntu you should get the old version which is great.  Avoid "Phoenicis PlayonLinux" if you are using another Distro like ARCH - it is harder to use.

3.  Once PlayonLinux is installed then go to TOOLS/MANAGE WINE VERSIONS  and install the latest amd64 version.

4.  Now select install and in the bottom left select the option of "install a non-listed program" then select Install a program in a new Virtual drive" and give it a name like MT5_1 (you can install multiple instances which are called ****).

5.  Now here something weird happens where I didn't get offered the 64 bit version I downloaded.  Just select "System" then "64 bits windows installation"

6. Afterwards in the configuration change the version from "system" to "8.1 staging" and you will find that the marketplace will work.


- The only thing I have trouble doing is changing colours of things on the charts.  The colour drop down box doesn't work in linux but hitting F4 fixes this.

After updating to the latest version of Linux Mint (22)  I am experiencing a strange chart behaviour. 

when I left click and hold on the price axis I can only compress the chart image, I cannot expand it.

How can I left click and hold on the price axis and expand the chart image?


Is this a bug? 

 

The best experience and stability of MT5 on Linux is by installing under Steam as a non-steam-game with Proton Experimental compatibility enabled ;-). This method also consumes less system resources (virtual machine, etc..) and works like a native application in Windows without any problems. I personally recommend it.

My system: Fedora Linux 40 (Cinnamon), Intel© Core™ i7-5820K CPU @ 3.30GHz × 6, 15.5 GiB RAM.

 
I installed it using the installer provided and it works. I neither was able to install via Playonlinux nor steam, I could not find the packages. 

The only weird thing is that the strategy tester is keeping crashing after some time. 

Does anybody have similar issues?

Hello, I have Mint 17.3, with Wine 1.6, and I've been unable to install either MT 4 or 5. A message appears asking for the server, username and password. Without this information I can't finish installing them. Does anyone know what I need to do? Thank you.
Hi, try installing through the Bottles app, it's much more intuitive to use and it's graphical, making it easier if you need to tweak some settings, I was installing through Wine and I had some errors like I couldn't open the Market to download some EAs and through Blottles it worked very well;
 
Christian Tommasi I wanted to test before starting my studies in the language, but an error screen appears.

I realise it's an executable compatibility error.
Can anyone tell me if I need to transition from mql5 to .deb to be able to attach it to the platform?

Other than that, can anyone tell me how to make a connection to the market via the platform itself?
I don't use the official mql5 platform, I use the xm one.
Maybe that's the error?
Hi, I was having this same problem too, there must be some incompatibility installing through Wine, I did some research and installed through Bottles, it worked very well, I finally managed to download the EAs I use, that's why I came to warn you here on the forum;
If in doubt, check out the Diolinux channel on Youtube, there's a very detailed video about Bottles.
