Kingdom Guard: A Free MT5 Indicator That Warns About Trades Without a Stop Loss
Kingdom Guard is a free, read-only MT5 indicator that shows your real drawdown and raises an alarm when any open position has no stop loss at the broker. Before the tool, here is how to check the same thing with MetaTrader 5 alone, because the habit matters more than any panel.
Why a missing stop loss is easy to miss
Not every strategy places its stop at the broker. Some manage exits inside the program, some traders close by hand, and some orders are simply opened in a hurry. None of this is visible on the balance line: a position without a stop at the broker looks exactly like any other until price moves far against it. Checking takes seconds, so it is worth doing every time you open the terminal.
How to check in MetaTrader 5, without any add-on
- Open the Toolbox and the Trade tab. Every open position has an S / L column. An empty cell, or 0.00, means there is no stop loss at the broker for that position.
- Turn on trade levels on the chart (Options, Charts, Show trade levels). A position with a stop shows its stop line; a position without one shows only its entry line.
- Look at equity, not only balance. Balance changes when trades close; equity includes what open positions are worth right now. The gap between the two is the floating result of everything still open.
- Measure drawdown from your own peak. A drawdown measured from the deposit can look small while the account is far below its best point. The useful question is how far equity sits below the highest equity it has reached.
What Kingdom Guard adds
Kingdom Guard puts those checks in one panel on your chart and keeps them there:
- Positions with no stop loss: an alarm row appears as soon as any open position runs without a stop loss at the broker. An optional terminal alert can be switched on in the inputs.
- Real drawdown, right now: how far your equity sits below its own historical peak, not below your deposit.
- Your losing streak: the current streak and the worst one on record, so you know the number before you meet it.
- Largest single loss: the worst case that has already happened in your own account.
- Month by month: your results for each month, from your own history.
It reads only the trade history your terminal holds. MetaTrader 5 does not always load all of it, so when the history is incomplete every affected row is marked with a star (*) and the footer says so. To load everything, open the History tab in the Toolbox and choose All history.
What it does not do
It never opens, modifies or closes a trade, and it never sends data anywhere. It reads your own account history and shows it back to you. It works on any symbol, any timeframe and any account, whether you trade by hand or run an expert advisor. The panel can be dragged anywhere and resized with the dotted grip in its corner; both are remembered across timeframe changes and restarts. Corner, starting position, font size, number of months and colours are inputs.
Using it well
- Keep the alarm row visible on the chart you look at most. The point is to see a missing stop at a glance, not to find it later in a report.
- Read the drawdown line next to your own rules. If you decided in advance how deep a drawdown you accept, the panel shows how close you are, in your own numbers.
- Treat a star (*) as a prompt to load the full history before drawing conclusions.

Trading with leverage involves substantial risk. A monitoring panel shows information; it does not prevent losses or guarantee any result.
