WHAT THIS INDICATOR DOES
Most consolidation scanners simply draw boxes around price ranges. This indicator goes further by analyzing the quality of each touch — distinguishing between body-in-zone (strong participation) and wick-only (weak participation) touches.
The result is a heatmap that shows you exactly where price has spent the most time within each zone, helping you identify the most reliable levels for entries, exits, and stop placement.

CORE LOGIC AND CALCULATION
The indicator scans recent price action for overlapping candle ranges. When a sufficient number of candles overlap consistently, a consolidation zone is detected. The minimum consecutive candles required is configurable, as is the maximum number of dissenting candles allowed within the sequence.
For each zone, the indicator tracks how many candles have their body inside the zone versus how many only touch the zone with their wicks. Body-in-zone candles indicate strong participation, while wick-only candles indicate weaker interest. This distinction forms the basis of the strength score.
A dynamic heatmap is built by analyzing the distribution of candle activity within each zone. Price levels with higher activity are shown in warmer colors (red/orange), while lower activity levels are shown in cooler colors (blue). This provides an immediate visual of where price has actually traded.
Multiple zones can be merged if they overlap in price and are close in time, reducing chart clutter and creating broader, more meaningful zones.

PARAMETER GUIDE
SETTINGS
Minimum Consecutive Candles: This parameter controls the minimum number of candles that must overlap consistently to form a zone. Higher values produce larger, more significant zones that represent extended consolidation. Lower values produce smaller zones that may represent brief pauses. The default is 6. For higher timeframes such as H4 and above, consider using 8 to 10. For lower timeframes such as M5 and M15, consider using 4 to 6.
Max Dissenting Candles: This parameter determines how many non-overlapping candles are allowed within the sequence. A value of 0 requires perfect consecutive overlap, which produces very strict zones. Higher values allow gaps and produce more zones. The default is 1. Setting this too high may produce zones that are not true consolidations.
Overlap Tolerance (Pips): This parameter sets the tolerance in pips for considering a candle as overlapping the zone. The default is 1.0. Increase this value for wider zones on volatile pairs such as GBPJPY or XAUUSD. Decrease for tighter zones on stable pairs such as EURUSD.
Lookback Mode: This parameter selects between Bars and Hours for the lookback period. Bars mode uses a fixed number of candles. Hours mode calculates the number of candles based on the chart timeframe. The default is Bars. Use Hours mode for consistent lookback across different timeframes.
Lookback Period (Bars): This parameter sets the number of bars to scan for zones. The default is 100. Increase this value for longer-term zones on higher timeframes such as H1 and above. Decrease for focus on recent activity on lower timeframes such as M1 and M5.
Lookback Hours: This parameter sets the number of hours to scan for zones. The default is 24. Use this with Hours mode. For a 24-hour lookback on an H1 chart, the indicator scans 24 candles. On an M15 chart, it scans 96 candles.
Merge Adjacent Zones: When enabled, zones that overlap in price and are close in time are merged. The default is true. Disable this to see individual smaller zones. Enable for broader, more consolidated zones.
Merge Bar Proximity: This parameter sets the maximum number of bars between zones to consider them for merging. The default is 2. Increase this value to merge zones that are further apart in time.
Merge Pip Proximity: This parameter sets the maximum price distance in pips to consider zones for merging. The default is 3.0. Increase this value to merge zones that are further apart in price.
Minimum Zone Width (Pips): This parameter sets the minimum width a zone must have to be displayed. The default is 0.1. Increase this value to filter out extremely narrow zones that may be noise.
Max Zone Age (Bars): This parameter sets the maximum age of a zone in bars. Zones older than this are removed. The default is 0, which means off. Set this to 100 to show only zones from the last 100 bars.
HEATMAP
Heatmap Style: This parameter selects the heatmap style. Off disables the heatmap. MultiColor uses the full spectrum from blue to red based on activity. SingleColor uses variations of the selected zone color. The default is MultiColor.
Min Band Width (Pips): This parameter sets the minimum width of individual heatmap bands. The default is 1.0. Increase this value to merge narrow bands into wider ones.
Min Heatmap Candle Count: This parameter sets the minimum number of candles that must overlap a band for it to be displayed. The default is 5. Increase this to show only the most active bands. Decrease to show more bands.

STRENGTH SCORING
Body Weight: This parameter sets the weight assigned to body-in-zone candles in the strength score. The default is 2.0. Higher values prioritize zones where candles have their bodies inside the zone, indicating strong participation.
Wick Weight: This parameter sets the weight assigned to wick-only candles in the strength score. The default is 1.0. Lower values reduce the importance of wick-only touches, which indicate weaker interest.
Minimum Strength Score: This parameter sets the minimum strength score required for a zone to be displayed. The default is 0, which is off. Increase this value to filter out weak zones. A good starting point is 5.0 for lower timeframes and 10.0 for higher timeframes.
VISUALS
Fill Opacity Percent: This parameter controls the brightness of the zone fill. Higher values produce more visible zones. Lower values produce more subtle zones. MQL4 does not support true transparency for rectangle fills, so this setting uses brightness adjustment as a close alternative. The default is 30 percent.
Color Intensity Percent: This parameter controls the intensity of the zone colors. The default is 50 percent. Higher values produce more vibrant colors. Lower values produce more muted colors.
Enable Age Fading: When enabled, zones gradually darken as they age. The default is false. Enable this to keep focus on recent zones. The fading rate is controlled by the Max Zone Age parameter.
Show Core Border: When enabled, a border is drawn around each zone. The default is true. Disable this for a cleaner, borderless look.
Border Thickness: This parameter controls the thickness of the zone border. The default is 1. Increase for more visible borders.
Zone Color: This parameter sets the color used for zones when the heatmap is off or in SingleColor mode. The default is Plum. Choose from a range of predefined colors including Teal, Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange, Purple, Pink, Cyan, Magenta, Gold, Lime, Coral, SkyBlue, Plum, Turquoise, Salmon, Lavender, Mint, and Peach.
Show Label: When enabled, a label is shown on each zone. The default is false. Enable to see zone information directly on the chart.
Show Strength In Label: When enabled, the strength score is shown in the label. The default is false. Enable to see the strength score without hovering.
Label Position: This parameter selects the position of the label on the zone: Top, Center, or Bottom. The default is Center.
Label Color: This parameter sets the color of the zone label. The default is White. Use a contrasting color for better readability.
Extend Right Bars: This parameter sets the number of bars to extend the zone to the right. The default is 0. Increase this to project zones forward for anticipation of future levels.
ALERTS
Alert on Zone Re-Entry: When enabled, alerts are triggered when price re-enters a previously detected zone. The default is false. Enable this to catch retests of key levels.
Alert Cooldown (Bars): This parameter sets the minimum number of bars between alerts for the same zone. The default is 5. Increase this to reduce alert frequency.

PRACTICAL EXAMPLE
On a EURUSD H1 chart, the indicator detects a consolidation zone between 1.0850 and 1.0875 with 10 consecutive candles. The zone has 8 body-in-zone candles and 2 wick-only candles, giving a strength score of 18, calculated as 8 multiplied by 2 plus 2 multiplied by 1.
The heatmap shows concentrated activity between 1.0860 and 1.0870, displayed as a red band, indicating where price has spent the most time. This becomes your focus area for entries.
When price breaks above the zone and later retests it, the re-entry alert triggers, providing a potential second-entry opportunity.
