News Guard Prop is not a trading strategy. On a live or demo account it never opens a position. Attach it to one chart and it reads the MetaTrader 5 economic calendar for the currencies you actually trade, then does, automatically and every time, what a prop-firm rule book asks for around a news release.
It is built for prop-firm challenges and funded accounts where trading around high-impact news is restricted or penalised, and for anyone who has watched a spread spike take out a stop two seconds after a release.
WHAT IT DOES AROUND EVERY EVENT THAT MATTERS
1. Flatten. Close every managed position, or only the losing ones, N minutes before the event.
2. Delete pending orders before the event, so nothing fills into the spike.
3. Protect what stays open. Move winners' stops to break-even (with your offset) and cap the stop distance at N pips. Stops are only ever tightened, never loosened.
4. Positions opened inside the window. If any Expert Advisor or a manual click opens a position between N minutes before and M minutes after the event, choose: alert and journal only, close it at once, or close it the moment the window ends. Inside the window itself the guard never closes anything on its own, because closing there is a rule breach too.
5. Flag for your other Expert Advisors. Sets the terminal global variable NGP_NEWS_WINDOW (1 inside a window, 0 otherwise) and NGP_NEXT_EVENT (server time of the next event). Two lines in any EA make it news-aware.
WHICH EVENTS
Importance filter (high only / moderate and high / all). Currencies taken automatically from the symbols of every managed position and the chart, or listed by hand. Keyword include and exclude lists (for example "NFP, FOMC, CPI" or "Speech"). A manual event list ("2026.09.19 12:30 USD NFP; ...") for brokers whose calendar is off and for events the calendar does not carry. The calendar is re-read every N minutes.
COUNTDOWN PANEL AND CHART LINES
Status (CLEAR / NEWS IN 42m / FLATTENING / IN WINDOW / PAUSED), calendar source and event count, the window and actions in force, the next event with a live countdown and the two after it, managed positions, pending orders, positions opened in a window, and the last action taken. Event lines are drawn on the chart, coloured by importance.
ALERTS
Terminal alert, push notification, e-mail, each optional, N minutes before an event and on every action. Every action is also in the Experts log.
CSV JOURNAL
Every flatten, delete, break-even, stop cap and in-window close is written with the event it belonged to, the symbol, ticket, volume and profit.
OBSERVE-ONLY MODE
Journals what each rule would have done and does nothing. Run it for a week over your real trading, read the journal, then switch it on.
RESTART-PROOF
Paused state, protection and in-window flags are stored in terminal global variables and survive a restart or a chart change.
SCOPE
Whole account from one chart, or the chart symbol only, or one magic number (or manual trades only).
PANEL BUTTONS
PAUSE / RESUME stops all actions without removing the EA. FLATTEN NOW closes every managed position and deletes every managed pending order immediately.
STRATEGY TESTER
The economic calendar is not available in the tester, so there the EA fires a demo event every N hours and opens a small test position about once an hour (minimum lot, wide stop, margin- and session-checked) plus one inside each window, so you can watch flatten, break-even, stop cap and the in-window rule fire on your own settings. This never happens outside the tester.
INPUTS

A pip is 10 points on 3- and 5-digit quotes and 1 point otherwise. Works on hedging and netting accounts. Calendar times are the trade server's time.
RECOMMENDED SETTINGS FOR A PROP-FIRM CHALLENGE
High-impact only, window -2 / +2 minutes (the common restricted-account rule), flatten ALL at -5 minutes, delete pendings, break-even on, opened inside the window -> close after, alert 15 minutes before, observe-only for the first week.
