Price Range Measure MQL5
Price Range Measure MQL5 is a visual measurement tool for MetaTrader 5. Measure price movements directly on your chart and display the signed price difference and percentage change between two points.
Create and keep multiple ranges on the same chart to compare different market movements. Each range uses time and price coordinates, with adjustable endpoints and colors that indicate the direction of the movement.

The tool works in the main price chart window. It does not require external data services or trading permissions. It does not open, modify or close trades.
How to use
- Attach the indicator to a MetaTrader 5 chart.
- Make sure the tool is ON, unlocked and active.
- Hold the left mouse button over an empty area of the main chart, drag to the endpoint and release.
- Click an existing range to select it.
- Drag either visible handle to adjust the measurement.
- Create another range by dragging over another empty area.
The displayed values update when you edit the measurement.
Percentage change = (End price − Start price) / Start price × 100
Positive movements use the bullish color; negative movements use the bearish color.
Visibility and locking
Turning the tool OFF hides ranges, labels, handles and reference lines while retaining the measurements. Turning it ON displays them again.
Locking keeps measurements visible and prevents new ranges, selection, editing and deletion through the tool.
Candle snapping
The starting and ending points can use different price modes:
- Free price.
- Open.
- High.
- Low.
- Close — the default for both endpoints.
- HL2: average of High and Low.
- OHLC4: average of Open, High, Low and Close.
With snapping enabled, the endpoint uses the corresponding candle’s opening time and selected price value. The price is captured when the endpoint is created or edited; it does not continue changing with the current candle.
Main settings
- Instance ID: use a different identifier for each instance on the same chart.
- Persistence: save and restore measurements on the same chart/profile and symbol.
- Candle snapping and separate endpoint price modes.
- Bullish, bearish, neutral, text and label background colors.
- Border width and handle size.
- Optional reference lines, points, pips, bar count and duration.
- Whole-range movement, panel position and maximum number of ranges.
Automatic pip calculation is available for Forex symbols. For other instruments, specify a pip size; otherwise, the pip metric displays “n/a”. Bar count uses the timeframe in which the range was created.
When using multiple instances, assign different Instance IDs and panel positions, and activate the instance you want to edit.
