Most retail "news bots" fail for one simple reason: they blindly fire pending orders into the market seconds before a major release and hope for the best. Catalyst News Trader PRO fixes this.

Catalyst runs a dual-engine architecture. Instead of guessing, the Outcome-Based Execution Engine connects directly to the MQL5 Economic Calendar, reads Actual vs. Forecast the instant data prints, and fires in the correct direction. For traders who prefer the classic approach, the OCO Straddle Engine (the default mode) drops a Buy Stop and Sell Stop ahead of the event and automatically cancels the unfilled leg once one side triggers.

⚠️ IMPORTANT: REGARDING BACKTESTING
This EA cannot be meaningfully backtested in the MT5 Strategy Tester. Because Catalyst relies on a live Actual vs. Forecast data feed from the MT5 Economic Calendar, the tester cannot simulate real, high-impact news releases. A minimal validation trade is executed automatically in tester mode to satisfy MQL5 Market requirements only.

⚡ Core Trading Engines

• Engine 1: OCO Straddle (Default): Places a Buy Stop and Sell Stop moments before the release. Whichever side triggers survives; the other is cancelled instantly — no manual intervention needed.
• Engine 2: News Outcome: Waits for the actual data print, compares it to forecast, and executes a single market order in your pre-set bias direction.

💰 Account & Chart Requirements

• Timeframe Independent: Runs on raw ticks and calendar timers, not chart candles. Attach it to any timeframe.
• Minimum Balance: $100 absolute minimum; $500+ recommended so the Auto-Lot risk engine has room to size positions safely.
• How Risk % Works: Enable AutoLot and set RiskPercent (e.g. 2.0). Catalyst sizes the trade from your live Account Equity and Stop Loss distance — no manual lot calculation required.

🛡️ Institutional Protections

• Whipsaw Re-Entry Protocol: If your initial stop is spiked out during a volatile whipsaw, Catalyst can lay down a smart recovery order to catch the true reversal (Max_Reentries).
• Two-Stage Profit Protection: A Break-Even Guard moves your stop to entry+buffer as soon as a trade shows initial profit, so a trade that reverses early can no longer round-trip into a full loss. A second stage then locks and trails larger profits.
• Max Spread Guard: Reads live spread in real time. If it exceeds your configured maximum, the entry is safely aborted.
• Triple Circuit Breaker: Trading locks for the day if ANY of the following trip: Daily Drawdown %, Max Trades Per Day, or N Consecutive Losses — whichever fires first.

⚙️ Key Settings & Parameters

• Strategy_Mode: Choose OCO Straddle (default, places orders before news) or News Outcome (waits for data).
• Symbol_Bias: Tell the EA how to react to good US data (e.g. Good Data = SELL Gold/EURUSD, but BUY USDJPY).
• Max_Reentries: How many recovery attempts after a whipsawed stop.
• MaxSpreadPoints: Maximum spread allowed to take an entry — protects against slippage.
• UseBreakEven / BreakEvenTrigger: Locks a trade to breakeven+buffer once it shows early profit.
• MaxDailyLossPercent / MaxTradesPerDay / MaxConsecutiveLosses: Three independent daily circuit breakers — set each to match your risk tolerance.

🔧 Setup Instructions

1. Open MT5 and ensure the Algo Trading button is enabled (green).
2. Attach the EA to an M1 or M5 chart of your chosen symbol.
3. That's it — Catalyst syncs automatically with the native MT5 Economic Calendar. No WebRequest URLs required.
