Wave Trader US100 MT4

It waits until the daily trend confirms the direction, enters when the SuperTrend indicator turns up at the end of a correction, sizes every position from the risk and protects the capital with a Stop Loss or a hedge. Three strategies with different characters, selected in wide research on US100 history, are built in as presets: Guardian (hedge instead of a Stop Loss, the smallest drawdown), Dynamic (trailing daily Stop Loss, growth with a moderate drawdown) and Momentum Runner (lets the profit run, the most growth in trend years). Each one comes in three versions: 3% risk, 5% risk or Custom with your own risk.

Everything the EA does is visible on clear panels on the chart, and you choose the language of the EA: English, German, Spanish or Polish.

Key Features

•             Built for strongly trending markets. The rules come from years of US100 history: the index rises in waves, and long bear markets are rare but destroy accounts. The EA buys the waves and stays out of the bear markets.

•             Three built-in strategies, nine risk versions. Guardian, Dynamic and Momentum Runner, each as 3% risk, 5% risk or Custom. With 10% total risk: from 7.6% a year at a 4.8% drawdown up to 28.4% a year. The Custom mode gives you every setting.

•             Two trend filters from a higher timeframe. An EMA 250 regime and a SuperTrend on D1 must both confirm the up-trend before any purchase.

•             Risk in one choice. The 3% and 5% versions set the total risk of open positions by themselves (3 positions at 1/3 of the limit each). In the Custom versions you set it yourself: lot from % risk or a fixed lot, a limit of positions at risk and a total risk limit.

•             Capital plan instead of a guess. The EA calculates which lot and how many positions your capital survives in the largest historical drop, and warns when the settings are too risky. It also shows how many positions fit at the broker’s minimum lot, so you see at once whether a small account can play the strategy.

•             Indicator lines on the chart. The EA draws its own indicators itself: the signal SuperTrend (trigger), the filter SuperTrend and the EMA trend filter from the higher timeframe, and the Stop Loss SuperTrend, calculated exactly as it trades them. Each line has its own on/off input and colours.

•             Equity curve on the chart. The capital of the EA is drawn against the price of the instrument, in % and in money.

•             Language of the EA. Panels, info windows, journal and alerts in English, German, Spanish or Polish.

•             User guide in four languages. A detailed guide that explains every input is available for download (link below).

•             Orders that every broker accepts. The EA takes the order filling mode from the symbol settings, rounds every Stop Loss and Take Profit to the broker’s price step and checks the free margin before each order. A close on the signal that the server rejects is retried until it succeeds, and a rejected Stop Loss change waits instead of flooding the server.

1. How the EA Reads the Market

The EA judges the market on three levels:

1.          Daily trend regime (EMA 250 D1). The down-trend starts after a daily close below the average, or at once when the price falls clearly below it during the day. The up-trend returns only after several daily closes above the average with a buffer. In a down-trend the EA does not open new purchases.

2.          Daily SuperTrend direction. A second, independent filter. An entry is possible only when both filters agree.

3.          The wave on H1. The EA waits for the H1 SuperTrend to turn up, which marks the end of a correction and the start of a new wave, and closes the position when the line turns down and the minimum profit is reached (Dynamic also at a 3% Take Profit, Momentum Runner only from 4% profit).

Entry grid. In Guardian and Dynamic every next position enters at least 1% lower than the previous one, so the EA never buys several positions at one price. In the Custom mode other grid modes are available too, including a grid built from the last 1000 daily bars of market history. Add-ons above the first position (input “Add-ons above the 1st position”) are “Not allowed”, “No limit” or “After BE of the previous”: in the last mode a new position above enters only when the previous one is already protected at Break-Even, and the EA moves that position to Break-Even itself, even when the classic Break-Even for all positions is off.

2. Three Strategies Built for US100

The strategies are the result of more than 14,000 tested setting variants on US100 H1 data from March 2017 to September 2026, including the 2020 crash, the 2022 bear market and the 2025/26 sideways market. In the last research stage the candidates were compared at the same risk (10% of capital in total), so the strategies differ in how they trade, not in the size of the stake. Each one had to survive the whole period without a margin call and was selected by its worst half or third of the period, not by its best result. We also checked all 11 drops of the Nasdaq 100 by 10% or more since 2017.

You choose a strategy in the input “Strategy preset”. The preset sets the trading logic (signal, trend filters, Stop Loss and Break-Even, grid, hedge, number of positions). Inputs that a preset overrides are marked [P], and the journal lists what was overridden. Out of the box the EA starts with Guardian 3% risk, the calmest strategy at the lowest risk.

Three risk versions of every strategy:

•             3% risk: the preset also sets the risk: 3 positions at 1% each, total risk of open positions 3% of the EA capital.

•             5% risk: 3 positions at 1.67%, total 5%.

•             Custom: only the trading logic; the risk comes from your Risk inputs, which sit right below the strategy choice. Risk inputs that the 3% and 5% versions override are marked [R]. The lot limits (max. lot, auto-fit to the broker, free margin) always stay yours.

The strategies:

1.          Guardian: a smooth equity curve first. No Stop Loss: when the daily trend breaks (price 1.5% under the 250-day average), a short hedge leg freezes the open longs until the trend returns. A fast H1 SuperTrend (3; 2.5) enters at the end of a correction, positions close on the signal from 1% profit, every next position at least 1% lower, add-ons above only after the previous reached Break-Even. 97.3% of trades closed in profit, every year positive, also 2022. In each of the 11 drops of the Nasdaq 100 the loss stayed at or below 4.1% (10% total risk).

2.          Dynamic: trend waves with a protective daily stop. A Stop Loss on a daily SuperTrend (10; 2.0) follows the price up; small waves close on the H1 signal, strong ones at a 3% Take Profit. A slow daily SuperTrend filter (14; 4.5) keeps the EA out of real down-trends. Up to 3 positions, each at least 1% lower. Clearly above the index with a much smaller drawdown, and steady: 21% to 27% a year in every half and third of the period (10% total risk).

3.          Momentum Runner: let the profit run. A position closes on the H1 signal only after 4% profit; until then a wide daily stop (SuperTrend 20; 3.0) follows the price. Add-ons above the first position, Break-Even at 1%. The most growth in strong trend years (2018, 2020, 2023), with deeper drawdowns and flat years in sideways markets.

STRATEGY INFO window. The button next to the strategy name opens a window that explains the chosen strategy in plain words: its idea and goal, why each key value was chosen, whether the risk comes from the preset or from your inputs, and its test result at 3%, 5% and 10% total risk.

3. Risk Management

•             Risk from the preset or from you: the 3% and 5% versions set the risk themselves, and the SETTINGS panel shows it in green (“Risk set by preset”). In the Custom versions you choose the mode.

•             Two clear modes: lot from % risk (to the Stop Loss or to the hedge line) or a fixed lot, plus limits shared by both modes.

•             Capital for the EA: the input “% of account capital for this EA” gives the EA only a part of the account. All limits and the capital plan are measured against it.

•             Total risk limit with a preview: before every signal the panel shows whether the limit ALLOWS or BLOCKS the next trade and how many positions still fit.

•             Lot fitted to the broker: a lot that is too large is reduced to the broker maximum, the volume limit and the free margin, so trades are not rejected. The risk never exceeds the setting.

•             Reliable execution: the order filling mode (FOK, IOC or Return) comes from the symbol, prices sit on the broker’s price step, a rejected close on the signal is retried every few seconds while the signal lasts, and a rejected Stop Loss change pauses for 30 seconds. With AutoTrading off the EA sends no orders at all.

•             Clear warnings: when the settings can cost more than the capital of the EA, the panel shows the reason in red and the largest fixed lot your capital can carry. An alert is optional.

4. Panels and the Equity Curve

•             SETTINGS panel: instrument, preset, signal state, trend filters (allowed or blocked, with the reason), grid, Stop Loss, risk mode and hedge.

•             POSITIONS panel: result, equity curve, open positions as a table of grid levels with swap, floating result and risk, open risk, capital plan and hedge.

•             EQUITY CURVE: the capital of the EA from the account history against the price of the instrument, both lines in % from the start of the range, axes in % and in money, ranges ALL, 2Y, 1Y, YTD and 6M. Deposits and other systems on the account do not move the line.

•             RISK INFO window: explains every number of the risk sections.

•             Panels can be moved, collapsed and scrolled, and they remember their position. Colours and font are set in the inputs.

•             On the chart: hedge line, grid zones, grid bottom from history (Custom mode) and historical drawdown lines.

•             EMA trend filter and Stop Loss SuperTrend: the EA also draws the D1 EMA 250 that decides the trend regime (values from the platform’s built-in moving average, the same one the EA reads, placed on the H1 chart exactly where the EA sees it) and the SuperTrend of its own Stop Loss as a dashed line. Turn them on with “Draw the EMA filter line on the chart?” and “Draw the SL SuperTrend on the chart?” in their sections. Every line has its own colour inputs.

•             SuperTrend lines, no extra indicator needed: the EA draws the H1 signal SuperTrend (trigger: red up, lime down) and the D1 filter SuperTrend (green up, red down, thicker). Both lines are calculated exactly the way the EA reads them, are visible on every chart timeframe and break at each flip, and the level of the last closed bar, the one the EA uses, is marked. Switch them on or off with “Draw the signal SuperTrend on the chart?” in the signal section and “Draw the filter SuperTrend on the chart?” in the SuperTrend filter section. The SETTINGS panel shows whether each line is on.

5. Choose the Language of the EA

The first input, EA language (panels, journal, alerts), sits at the very top of the inputs, above the capital settings. Choose:

•             English (default),

•             Deutsch (German),

•             Español (Spanish),

•             Polski (Polish).

The choice changes all texts the EA shows to you: both panels, the STRATEGY INFO and RISK INFO windows, buttons, the equity curve, descriptions of the lines on the chart, the journal in the Experts tab (and the log file) and the alerts. Errors and warnings are always written to the journal, in every language. The trading logic is identical in every language, and set files work in each of them. The input descriptions in the MetaTrader window stay in English, because MetaTrader reads them when the EA is compiled. Technical terms such as LONG, SL, BE and the input names stay in English as well.

6. Test Results of the Strategies

Simulation on US100 H1 from March 2017 to September 2026, account 10,000 USD, margin 5% of the contract value, spread and swaps included, 3 positions at risk. Yearly growth / maximum drawdown at a total risk of 3%, 5% and 10%:

•             Guardian: 2.0% / 1.3%, 3.6% / 2.4%, 7.6% / 4.8%

•             Dynamic: 6.8% / 4.8%, 11.6% / 7.9%, 24.0% / 15.4%

•             Momentum Runner: 8.5% / 6.8%, 14.3% / 11.2%, 28.4% / 21.4%

•             US100 buy and hold: 19.6% / 35.4%

In 2022, when the index fell by 32.5%, the daily trend filters switched purchases off and all three strategies closed the year in profit. The largest loss of the EA in any of the 11 drops of the Nasdaq 100 by 10% or more (10% total risk): Guardian 4.1%, Dynamic 9.6%, Momentum Runner 14.0%; the index itself fell by up to 35.4%.
