RMT Position Guardian is a trade manager for MetaTrader 5 positions that are already open: automatic breakeven, trailing stop and partial close, for manual trades or for one EA's magic number. It opens nothing, never closes a position completely and leaves every position outside the scope you chose untouched.
The problem it solves
You open a trade by hand, or an EA opens it, and then you have to watch it: move the stop to breakeven, trail it, take part of the profit. Doing it by hand means sitting at the screen; doing it late costs the profit you had. RMT Position Guardian does those three jobs for the positions you point it at and nothing else.
What it does
- Breakeven: when profit reaches the trigger, the stop loss moves to the entry price plus a small locked profit.
- Trailing stop: from a second profit level on, the stop follows price at a fixed distance. The stop only moves in the protective direction, never back.
- Partial close (off by default): closes a percentage of the remaining volume at up to three profit levels, one time per level.
- Distances are set either in ATR multiples (period and timeframe selectable) or in points.
- A panel on the chart lists each managed position: profit in your units, current stop, breakeven and trailing state, partial levels done and the result of the last request.
Which positions it touches
You choose one scope: manual trades (magic 0), one magic number, or both. By default it manages only the chart symbol; one switch extends it to every symbol. Anything outside the scope is not modified and not closed. The panel shows how many positions were ignored for being out of scope.
Built to not repeat an order
- Each partial level is recorded before the request is sent and saved in the terminal, so a restart of the terminal or of the EA does not take the same level twice.
- If the broker's answer does not arrive (timeout, connection loss), the tool does not send again. It waits and checks the position volume: if the volume went down, the level is counted as done.
- After a refused request it waits (60 seconds by default) before trying that position again.
- A cap on requests per minute (6 by default) counts every request, accepted or not.
- The broker's stop level and freeze level are checked before a stop is moved; if price is too close, it waits instead of sending a request that would be rejected.
- If Algo Trading is off or the account does not allow EA trading, the panel says so and nothing is sent.
What was tested on a live demo terminal
With this exact file: the stop moved to breakeven, one partial closed 0.03 of 0.10 lots, the stop then trailed, a position with another magic number was left untouched, and after two real terminal restarts the partial level was still marked as taken. The journal of those sessions is part of the product evidence.
What it does not do
- It does not open positions and has no entry signals.
- It never closes a position completely. A partial close that would leave less than the minimum lot is skipped.
- It does not place or move take-profit levels.
- It cannot act while the terminal is closed or disconnected. During that time the stop loss already on the server is the only protection.
- Magic 0 normally means a manual trade, but an EA that sends orders without a magic number also shows as 0. Check the scope on a demo account first.
- It does not promise profit or that a stop will be filled at its price.
