Dawn Raid: Strike the Asian Range Before London Wakes Up

Every trading day starts the same way. The Asian session builds a quiet box of highs and lows, the market coils, and then the first real liquidity of the day breaks that box in one direction. Dawn Raid is built for that moment. It maps the Asian range, filters for structure, places its orders before the move, and manages the trade with fixed rules from entry to exit.

What Dawn Raid does

Dawn Raid runs on the M5 chart. Each day it works through a strict order of priorities:

1. Proximal neckline pattern (M and W). The EA scans the last candles for a compressed double-top (M) or double-bottom (W) whose second peak or valley holds close to the first. A minimum-ratio input sets how tight the pattern must be. If it finds one, it places a stop order just beyond the neckline, with the stop loss beyond the pattern's extreme. This is the highest-quality setup, so it is checked first.
2. Asia high breakout. If no pattern is found, the EA calculates the Asian session high and low from the hours you set in broker time. It ignores ranges that are too tight, which cuts out dead, choppy mornings. Otherwise it places a buy stop above the Asian high plus a buffer.
3. Previous day low breakout. If the Asian levels aren't usable, the EA falls back to yesterday's low with a sell stop and a buffer.
4. Emergency breakout pair. If all three fail, it places a simple breakout order a fixed distance from price, so a day isn't wasted on a data problem.

Only one setup is traded per day. Orders that haven't filled by your London open hour are cancelled, so the EA doesn't enter stale breakouts in the middle of the day. Orders are also cancelled if price runs past the level by more than your chase limit.

Risk control

• Percentage risk sizing. Lot size is calculated from your balance, your risk percentage and the exact stop distance, using the symbol's tick value, so risk stays consistent across pairs.
• Margin protection. Before any order is placed, the EA checks it against free margin. If the lot is too large, it is reduced to the largest size you can afford. If even the minimum lot isn't affordable, the trade is skipped. Pending orders are re-checked as margin changes.
• Daily trade cap and loss streak breaker. You set the maximum entries per day and the number of consecutive losses that stops new entries.
• Daily loss limit. New entries stop once the day's realised plus floating loss passes your chosen percentage of balance.
• Spread filter. New entries are skipped when the spread is wider than your limit, so you aren't filled during a bad liquidity moment.
• Weekend protection. On Friday, from the hour you choose, Dawn Raid clears pending orders, closes open positions and blocks new entries, so you don't carry weekend gap risk.
• No martingale, no grid, no averaging down. Every trade has a stop loss from the moment it is placed.

Trade management

Each trade targets TP1 at your R multiple. When TP1 is reached, Dawn Raid closes your chosen percentage of the position, moves the stop to break-even and extends the target to TP2. After that, an optional trailing stop follows price at a distance you set, moving only when it improves by your minimum step. All stop and target changes respect the broker's minimum stop distance and freeze level, so they aren't rejected.

Safety-net entry (optional)

Dawn Raid includes an optional fallback. If no trade has been filled after a set number of new bars in a day, the EA can open a market buy with a fixed stop loss and take profit. It does not come from the pattern or range logic. It exists so the EA still trades on days when no pending order triggers, which matters for testing and validation. If you want the strategy to trade only its own signals, set Enable_Market_Fallback to false.

On-chart dashboard

A dashboard shows the symbol, server time, Asian high, low and range in pips, yesterday's high and low, trades taken against the daily cap, the consecutive loss count against its limit, open positions, the strategy that placed the current trade, and the last action the EA took (an order placed, a cancel, a partial close, a trailing stop move or a block reason). You can set its corner and position, or turn it off.

Setup

• Attach to an M5 chart. Use major forex pairs, and test other symbols in the Strategy Tester first.
• Set the Asia start and end hours and the London open hour in your broker's server time. This is the most important setting.
• Use a low-spread account. Breakout systems are sensitive to spread and slippage.
• Run a backtest with real ticks and forward test on a demo account before going live.
• Start with the default 0.5% risk per trade and adjust from there.
