Forward testing

I am continuing to forward test 10points 3 Dynamic Stop with all four recommended pairs on M30 charts starting at .01 units on a $1800 demo account.

The only change to my previously posted settings is to remove the AccountProtection and OrderstoProtect by using 0 setting.

Previously I had thought that using MaxTrades10 would allow the EA to trade up to 10 and close off with a loss if it reached 11 but the Account Protection setting over rules the MaxTrades setting.

TakeProfit=20.00000000

Lots=0.01000000

InitialStop=1.00000000

TrailingStop=10.00000000

MaxTrades=10

Pips=15

SecureProfit=10

AccountProtection=0

OrderstoProtect=0

ReverseCondition=0

EURUSDPipValue=10.00000000

GBPUSDPipValue=10.00000000

USDCHFPipValue=10.00000000

USDJPYPipValue=9.71500000

StartYear=2005

StartMonth=1

EndYear=2006

EndMonth=12

EndHour=22

EndMinute=30

mm=0

risk=12

AccountisNormal=1

Magic=10201

I recognise that Goblin has a more efficient method of assessing the trading direction and am testing both EAs with exactly the same settings and after time will be able to compare performances.

John,

So if AccountProtection is removed, the EA will be allowed to trade up to 10 and close off with a loss if it reached 11?

In case that happens, the loss could be quite huge, right?

Thanks

AccountProtection

Yes that would be so but I want to test to find out if it will reach that level now whilst using a demo account.

Why select MaxTrades10 in the first place if it can never get there?

I wanted to test MaxTrades10 last Tuesday but because I didn't understand the ramifications of AccountProtect I was denied that opportunity so now I have removed that option.

I will keep on testing this EA to find out if or when MaxTrades10 will be breached. How much will it earn against how much will it lose? Will it earn $500 per week for 8 weeks and then lose $500 in one week?

Yes Teamfri,

if you've set the initial stop to 1, Maxtrades 10 and Pips 15 that means for a loss case (= a drawdown of over 165 pips):

The loss is =

11 * 15 Pips * Lotsize

+ 10 * 15 Pips * Lotsize * 2

+ 9 * 15 Pips * Lotsize * 4

+ ....

+ 1 * 15 Pips * Lotsize * 1.024

= 30.705 * Lotsize

or until there is no more margin available on the account if initial stop is set to 0.

hi

thats the way how i calculated the SL amount for every open position with maxtrades=10 and pipstep=10

started with 0.01 at IBFX (nanolots, 0.01=0.50$margin, 1 cent per pip)

10 pipstep

1. 0.01 0

2. 0.02 0.10$ 0

3. 0.04 0.20$ 0.20 0

4. 0.08 0.30$ 0.40 0.40 0

5. 0.16 0.40$ 0.60 0.80 0.80 0

6. 0.32 0.50$ 0.80 1.20 1.60 1.60 0

7. 0.64 0.60$ 1.00 1.60 2.40 3.20 3.20 0

8. 1.28 0.70$ 1.20 2.00 3.20 4.80 6.40 6.40 0

9. 2.56 0.80$ 1.40 2.40 4.00 6.40 9.60 12.80 12.80 0

10.5.12 0.90$ 1.60 2.80 4.80 8.00 12.80 19.20 25.60 25.60 0

11. SL 1.00$ 1.80 3.20 5.60 9.60 16.00 25.60 38.40 51.20 51.20 = 203.60$$$

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

so if you use 0.01 on IBFX as starting position then you will have a total loss of 203.60$ if the 11.trade(SL) is triggered.

please correct me if i am wrong

What page has the latest EA so I can try this?

What are the safest settings for this? If only want to make $20 a day?

How do I tell if the EA is active ok?

Thanks

Hi Arthur_1,

IMO not correct - lots for each new order are doubled at each pipstep, you must add this to the already open orders. So you get the drawdown for each order from its beginning to the final exit point.

Try this one - I attached an Excel File

i think your calculations are correct but not for maxtrades=10, i try to show it with this example for the first position:

Trade #

1 0,01 trade is triggered, at this point it has no drawdown

2 at this point the position is -10

3 -20

4 -30

5 -40

6 -50

7 -60

8 -70

9 -80

10 -90

11 CLOSE (all positions) the first position is -100

at maxtrades=10 the first position has a drawdown of 100pips and not 110pips. your calculations are for maxtrades=11 if i am not wrong. if you do a backtest then youll see that at maxtrades=10 the biggest positions is 5.12 and not 10.24 how in your excell sheet.

I have amended the excel file to reflect 15 pipstep and note that if we close after maxtrades10 we do not incur the 11th progression loss.

I have used actual figures from the closedown at MaxTrades7 using usdjpy and projected the remaining progressions.

There would be a substantial drawdown if and when MaxTrades is closed down with the stop loss. The gamble is how much would we have gained in the interim and how much margin would be available in the account.

My forward testing of this EA is attempting to find out the likelihood of MaxTrades10 being breached and to date the closest was when the AccountProtection kicked in and stopped the progression.
