This article provides ready-to-use setting files and their corresponding historical backtest results for Boring Pips EA 6.0, released on November 5, 2026. It aims to help you compare configurations and understand their historical performance and risk characteristics.
The first section explains how to configure your backtests. The second presents the results, with the corresponding setting files available for download.
For installation instructions and explanations of the EA’s input parameters, please refer to the detailed setup guide: Boring Pips EA 6.0.
1. Recommended Backtest Settings
1.1. Data and Modeling
Use reliable real-tick data, such as Dukascopy data or data provided through Tick Data Suite or Tickstory. Configure the historical data with a GMT+2 time zone and US daylight-saving time rules to match the research setup used for these results.
For detailed testing in MT5, select Every tick based on real ticks.
1.2. Testing Period
Consider testing the most recent 3, 5, 7, or 10 years, depending on your objectives and available computing resources.
I do not recommend running excessively long backtests, as they are very time-consuming, and it is difficult for a single fixed configuration to suit every market period with its different characteristics. Instead, the EA needs to be continually adjusted to adapt to the most recent trading conditions.
1.3. Trading Costs and Leverage
Include commission, swap, and spread assumptions that reflect your broker’s trading conditions.
Use the leverage available on your intended trading account. If it is below 1:100, start with lower-risk configurations and review margin usage carefully.
1.4. Backtesting Procedure
Step 1 — Run a short visual test
Start with a short MT5 backtest using 1 minute OHLC, with Visual mode enabled. Keep the dashboard visible to familiarize yourself with the interface and observe how the EA opens, manages, and closes positions.
This is a quick functional preview, not the final performance assessment.
Step 2 — Run the full real-tick test
Select Every tick based on real ticks, then disable:
- Display Dashboard in the EA inputs.
- Display Supply/Demand Zone in the EA inputs.
- Visual mode in the terminal’s Strategy Tester.
Disabling these visual elements reduces rendering overhead and can shorten the backtest. A full ten-year test may still take approximately 2–5 hours, depending on your hardware, data volume, and configuration. This is an estimate, not a guaranteed completion time.
1.5. Choosing MT5 or MT4
MT5 is recommended for backtesting because it supports testing multiple trading symbols together. This provides a more representative simulation of the EA’s multi-symbol operation, including shared account balance, margin, and exposure.
MT4 can be configured similarly where supported, but its standard Strategy Tester tests one symbol at a time. Separate MT4 results therefore do not directly represent combined portfolio performance. MT5’s modeling options are also not identical to those available in MT4.
2. Backtest Results and Setting Files
2.1. Test Conditions
The results below use Dukascopy historical data, with timestamps and trading-cost assumptions configured to reflect the IC Markets account conditions used for testing.
They provide a reference for comparing configurations if you do not have time to run complete backtests yourself. Results may differ depending on broker pricing, spreads, commission, swaps, leverage, data quality, and execution conditions.
2.2. Performance Results
The following tables present the performance summary and monthly returns for each configuration. Results cover January 2017 through the available data in October 2026; the 2026 figures represent a partial year.

2.3. Downloadable Setting Files
Download the setting file corresponding to your preferred configuration and platform:
- _mt5.set — for MetaTrader 5.
- _mt4.set — for MetaTrader 4.
Disclaimer: These results illustrate historical backtest performance for the corresponding configurations. They are provided for reference only and do not represent a promise or guarantee of future returns. Backtests have limitations, and live trading results may differ.
