Short description
Type in your risk (% or money) and your stop-loss (points, or drag a line), and the panel shows the right lot size for the symbol, the real money at risk, the margin needed and the SL/TP prices. One-click BUY/SELL places the order with that SL and TP.
Full description
Sizing every trade by hand is slow and easy to get wrong, especially on gold, indices and JPY pairs where a point is worth different amounts. ClearSpec Risk & Lot Size Calculator does the maths for the symbol you're on, using the broker's own contract data.
Calculation
- Risk as a % of balance, equity or free margin, or as a fixed amount in your account currency. One click switches the mode, and the amount carries over.
- Stop-loss in points (type it in) or from a draggable line on the chart.
- The loss per lot comes from the terminal's own profit calculation (OrderCalcProfit), so it is tick-value aware and works for Forex, metals, indices, crypto and accounts in any currency.
- The lot is rounded down to the broker's volume step and checked against the minimum, maximum and volume limit. If even the minimum lot would risk more than you planned, the panel tells you and won't trade (unless you allow it).
- A safety cap (default 5% of balance) blocks accidental oversized risk.
- It shows the exact lot, the rounded lot, the real money at risk with that lot, the margin needed, the free margin, and the BUY and SELL SL/TP prices.
One-click orders
- BUY and SELL buttons send a market order with the calculated lot, the SL, and a TP at your reward:risk multiple (or no TP).
- Before sending, it checks free margin, the account order limit, the symbol trade mode and the broker's minimum stop distance. If any check fails, the reason shows on the panel instead.
- You can turn the buttons off with an input and use it as a calculator only.
Other
- Works on hedging and netting accounts.
- No DLLs, no web requests.
- Strategy Tester: buttons can't be clicked there, so with "Sample orders in the Strategy Tester" on, it places small sample orders at the calculated size in the tester only, so you can check the sizing in visual mode.
Notes
- This is a calculator and order tool, not a trading strategy. It does not promise any result. Real losses can be bigger than planned when stops slip (gaps, news, low liquidity).
- Check the numbers on a demo account first.
