# Liquidity Vacuum Finder - The empty corridors of price

## Short description
> Identifies price bands crossed on low volume, where nothing will slow price on its return. It draws the nearest vacuum above and below current price.
### Overview
The concept is the exact complement of the volume profile. Where that shows where the market spent most time and built value, this shows where it did not. Bands crossed quickly and on low volume are liquidity vacuums, zones where no positions formed and where, on price returning, nothing will slow it down: nobody holds inventory at those levels, so nobody has a reason to defend them. Price tends to cross vacuums quickly and slow down in dense zones, and knowing in advance where the vacuums are helps choose reachable targets and avoid placing stops inside a corridor price will travel through without friction. The indicator draws the nearest vacuum above and below current price, computed on a rolling window of closed bars.
### How the calculation works
1. As in the classic profile, each bar volume is distributed uniformly across the bands it crosses.
2. The average volume per band is obtained by dividing the window total volume by the number of bands.
3. A band is considered empty when it gathered less than the InpVacuumPct share of that average volume.
4. The band currently holding price is identified, then the first empty band going up and the first going down are searched.
5. The two levels found are drawn as lines on the chart, using the band centre as value.
6. If no band satisfies the condition the level stays empty: it means volume is uniformly distributed and no privileged corridors exist.
### How to use it
- Use vacuums as targets: once price enters an empty corridor it tends to cross it quickly.
- Avoid placing stops inside a vacuum: they would be reached by transit movement, not by a genuine reaction.
- A vacuum very close to current price indicates the market just passed through without building anything: high chance of a quick return.
- The absence of both lines means uniformly distributed volume: no privileged corridor in either direction.
- Lower InpVacuumPct to recognise only the clearest vacuums, raise it for a more permissive reading.
### Who it is for and on which timeframes
It targets traders familiar with volume profile analysis who want to read its inverse, the low liquidity zones. It works from M15 to D1. Like the profile, it is computationally demanding because it rebuilds the histogram on every bar. It is particularly useful in target selection and stop placement, two decisions most traders make on round numbers or arbitrary references. It requires having understood the volume profile concept, otherwise the two lines look incomprehensible.
### Practical example of reading a signal
On GBPUSD H1 the green lower vacuum line sits at 1.2680, while price is at 1.2740. Between the two levels the profile shows normal volume, but at 1.2680 there is an almost empty band: the market had passed through in just two bars during a burst, with nobody building positions. Price starts falling. Down to 1.2695 the decline is slow and laboured, because it crosses dense zones. As soon as it enters the vacuum at 1.2685 it accelerates sharply and covers in two bars the same distance that previously took twelve. Anyone with a stop at 1.2678, inside the corridor, was hit by mere transit.

## Advantages / strengths
- It reads the inverse of the volume profile, information almost no indicator makes explicit.
- It has a direct, concrete use in target selection and stop placement.
- No repaint: the window uses only closed bars and the levels are never rewritten retroactively.
- The absence of levels is itself information: it means uniform volume and no privileged corridor.
## Limitations and warnings
- Rebuilding the profile on every bar is computationally heavy, as for every indicator in this family.
- The uniform distribution of volume inside the bar is an approximation that can create apparent vacuums where none exist.
- The levels can jump abruptly when a band moves just above or below the vacuum threshold.
- A vacuum far from current price has little immediate operational relevance, but is drawn nonetheless.
**No repaint:** values printed on a closed bar are never modified afterwards.
