Beagle took 10,000 USD to 95,071 USD (+851%) in a backtest on real ticks from January 2023 to October 2026, with a maximum drawdown of 27%, measured on every tick, on the default Moderate profile. It is a gold (XAU/USD) Expert Advisor where every trade is born with its stop loss on your broker's server, and the lot grows with your balance.
You choose the profile, and the profile sets what one trade costs at its stop before it is placed: from 1% to 5% of the balance. In the Moderate backtests, 2025 returned +185% and 2026 +133% through October, with 21 of 22 months positive across those two years, and the worst day cost 4.3% of the balance.

Return, stops and risk control
- Return in the backtests: on the Moderate profile, +12% in 2023, +13% in 2024, +185% in 2025 and +133% through October 2026, with a maximum drawdown between 8% and 27% in each of those years. Want more? Move up a profile: on Maximum, the one with the most risk, 2025 closed at +1,209% with a 20% drawdown that year; from January 2023 to October 2026, without restarting each year, Maximum equity fell as much as 62% from its peak.
- Stops: every trade has its stop loss on your broker's server from the first second. If your terminal goes down, the trade stays protected. No grid, no martingale, no averaging down: the lot never grows after a loss.
- Risk control: the profile you choose sets the estimated cost of a trade at its stop, from 1% of your balance on Conservative to 5% on Maximum. At most two trades open at the same time. On top of that: account drawdown protection, a lot cap, an optional pause on US news days and an optional Short Friday.
Backtest results, year by year
Measured in the MetaTrader 5 Strategy Tester with every tick based on real ticks from Vantage (XAUUSD+), real spread and commission, and 1:100 leverage. Each year restarts at 10,000 USD, so one year can't hide another. Each cell shows the year's return / that year's maximum equity drawdown, measured on every tick.
| Profile (return / drawdown) | 2026 through October | 2025 | 2024 | 2023 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Conservative | +46% / 5% | +60% / 4% | +9% / 8% | +3% / 17% |
| Moderate (default) | +133% / 12% | +185% / 8% | +13% / 17% | +12% / 27% |
| Balanced | +269% / 16% | +379% / 13% | +20% / 25% | +12% / 43% |
| Aggressive | +500% / 18% | +684% / 17% | +22% / 32% | +20% / 52% |
| Maximum | +768% / 22% | +1,209% / 20% | +22% / 39% | +17% / 62% |
- Without restarting each year (one continuous backtest, January 2023 to October 2026, Moderate, 10,000 USD, lot growing with the account; inside it, each year's percentage differs from the table above, which restarts at 10,000 USD): 35 of 46 months closed positive (21 of 22 in 2025 and 2026), with a profit factor of 1.76 (1.76 dollars won for every dollar lost) and a maximum drawdown of 27%. That last figure is the one to size your account by. The worst month was February 2024, at -11.0%. On Maximum, the same backtest reached +16,827% with a maximum drawdown of 62%: at some point the equity fell by more than half from its peak.
- Compounding, in balance terms: in the same backtest, the 10,000 USD ended 2023 at 11,169 USD, 2024 at 13,083 USD and 2025 at 38,011 USD, and reached 95,071 USD in October 2026.
- Why 2025 and 2026 returned so much more: gold moved far more in those years (a strong rally in 2025; a strong rise and fall in 2026), and within each year the automatic lot follows your balance, so every gain makes the next trades larger and every loss makes them smaller. That is compounding. Those were exceptional years, not a rate to project forward.
- The weak years were 2023 and 2024: +12% and +13% on Moderate, with 14 of 24 months positive in the backtest. And 2023 started badly: in the backtest, an account started in January 2023 stayed below its deposit at every month-end through September, with the low point in June, 27% below the peak, and finished the year at +12%. If gold goes back to moving the way it did then, those are the years to compare against, not 2025 and 2026.

How Beagle works
Beagle is a MetaTrader 5 Expert Advisor for gold (XAUUSD, or GOLD depending on your broker). It runs on its own, on a single chart, and its job comes down to three things:
- Picking up the scent. Beagle follows gold and only goes in when its conditions line up. The rest of the time, it waits.
- Going in protected. Every order reaches the server with its stop loss attached. There is no trade without a stop, not even for a second.
- Compounding. The automatic lot follows your balance: gains raise the lot of the next trades, and losses lower it.
Stops and risk per profile
With Beagle, the size of each loss is chosen before the entry, by your profile:
| Profile | One trade at its stop (estimate) | In dollars, 10,000 USD account | Worst day in the backtests | Maximum drawdown, 2023 to 2026 (backtest) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Conservative | 1% of balance | 100 USD | 2% | 17% |
| Moderate (default) | 2% | 200 USD | 4.3% | 27% |
| Balanced | 3% | 300 USD | 6.4% | 43% |
| Aggressive | 4% | 400 USD | 8.4% | 52% |
| Maximum | 5% | 500 USD | 10.5% | 62% |
The lot is rounded down, so a trade at its stop costs up to that amount, gaps aside. The worst day in the backtests, for each profile, is in the table. A gap can push the exit past the stop: in the backtests, the worst trade cost up to 1.4 times the planned amount, on a Monday open.
Few settings, on purpose
| Risk profile | Conservative, Moderate (default), Balanced, Aggressive or Maximum. Choosing the profile is the whole setup; there is no set file to download. |
| Lot | Automatic, growing with the account, calculated on balance, equity or a fixed amount (Beagle's slice of the account, for sharing it with other EAs). Or a fixed lot. |
| Lot cap | A maximum lot per trade, in any mode. |
| Account protection | A limit on the open loss of Beagle's trades, in percent of balance or in money: close the trades and continue, close them and stop the EA, or alert only. Other EAs and losses already closed are not counted. Off by default. |
| News | No new trades on Federal Reserve (FOMC) decision days and US payroll days. Live, it uses MetaTrader's own calendar; in the backtest, a calendar built into Beagle. Off by default, and the numbers on this page are with it off. Switched on, in the same Moderate backtest the return went from +851% to +791%, the drawdown from 27% to 32% and the trades from 1,657 to 1,537. With a fixed lot of 0.01, the return went from +35% to +33% and the drawdown from 2.3% to 2.5%; the worst day stayed the same. |
| Short Friday | For fewer trades held over the weekend: no new trades on Friday from the hour you choose (in GMT+2, GMT+3 in summer, which Beagle converts to your broker's time zone). Trades already open are not closed: they carry on with their stop on the server. Off by default. In the Moderate backtest, with the cutoff at hour 12, 7 of the 17 trades held over the weekend no longer were, and the return went from +851% to +646%, with a 32% drawdown; with the cutoff at hour 15, 3, with a return of +717% and a 28% drawdown. |
| Panel | Account, execution (spread, slippage, ping), risk (profile, the next entry's lot and the cap, open trades, the EA's current and maximum drawdown, with a reset button) and results for the day, week, month and all time. It also shows in the Strategy Tester's visual mode. |

Who it's for
- Traders who want an EA that compounds with their balance, without spending the day in front of a chart.
- Traders who only accept trades with the stop on the server from the first second.
- Traders who prefer smaller swings to the highest possible return: on Conservative, the smallest profile, the maximum drawdown over almost four years of backtests was 17%.
- Portfolio builders who need an EA that works on a fixed slice of the account.
- Prop firm traders, with a fixed lot sized to the firm's limits (table in the FAQ).
Who it's not for
- Anyone looking for a robot that never loses. That robot doesn't exist. Beagle has losses, and the profile you choose sets their estimated size.
- Anyone who wants to double their account in the first week. The large numbers in the tables come from compounding, on the higher profiles and in years of big gold moves; 2023 and 2024 returned far less than 2025 and 2026.
- Anyone who needs to tweak everything. Here the setup is the risk profile. If you'd rather control every detail, this isn't your EA.
- Anyone who buys without testing. Run the free demo on your broker first. If the result doesn't convince you, don't buy.

Price
Today: 99 USD. 10 copies left before the price goes up to 149 USD.
The price rises with sales, never with the calendar: +50 USD every 10 copies up to 999 USD, then +100 USD every 10 copies up to 2,499 USD. After that, it rises with demand, up to a final price of 2,999 USD. Every buyer keeps the price they paid and gets every update.
| From copy | 1 | 11 | 21 | 81 | 181 | 281 | 331 | after |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Price (USD) | 99 | 149 | 199 | 499 | 999 | 1,999 | 2,499 | up to 2,999 |
Why it goes up: Beagle is new on the Market and has no live signal yet. Early buyers take on more uncertainty and pay less for it. Later buyers will have more track record to check, and they pay for that certainty.
Rental: 1 month for 30 USD during the launch. The Market doesn't offer refunds, so the free demo and the rental are how you see Beagle on your own broker before paying full price.
FAQ
Is it martingale? Is it a grid?
No. Each trade has a single entry, with its stop on the server. The lot only grows with the balance, never after a loss.
How many trades does it open at the same time?
At most two trades can be open at once; results were measured on a hedging account.
Does it work with prop firms?
Yes, with a fixed lot sized to the firm's limits (usually 5% daily loss and 10% overall). With the lot growing with the account, no profile stayed within 10% in the backtest from January 2023 to October 2026. With a fixed lot, the largest drop in the backtests cost about 480 USD per 0.01 lot, and the worst day about 70 USD. The table below puts that largest drop at 8% of the account or less, leaving 2 percentage points of headroom under the 10% overall limit, and keeps the worst day near 1%.
| Account (USD) | 10,000 | 25,000 | 50,000 | 100,000 | 200,000 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fixed lot | 0.01 | 0.03 | 0.07 | 0.15 | 0.30 |
Use "Lot mode: Fixed lot size", put the same value in "Max lot per entry", and turn on the drawdown protection in "close all trades and stop the EA" mode at 4.5%. Below 6,000 USD (a 5,000 USD challenge account, for example), even the minimum lot of 0.01 goes past that headroom. The table uses 0.01 for every 6,500 USD of account. The cost of one stop comes from 2025-2026 backtests; the largest drop and the worst day, from January 2023 to October 2026. If market conditions change a lot, check the next-entry lot on the panel and redo the math. Make sure your firm allows EAs and hedging. The step-by-step guide: https://www.mql5.com/en/blogs/post/777877.
Does it work with a small account?
It runs from 1,000 USD, and we recommend 1,750 USD on the default Moderate profile. The lot never goes below 0.01, and in our 2025-2026 backtests one trade at its stop cost about 35 USD per 0.01 lot. So Moderate (2%) works as described from about 1,750 USD, Conservative (1%) from about 3,500 USD, and Balanced and the higher profiles from about 1,000 USD. Below 1,750 USD, a stop on Moderate costs more than the profile says (about 3.5% of a 1,000 USD account), and a weak year would cut deeper than the tables show.
Which profile should I choose?
Start on Conservative. After a month live, if it behaves as expected, move up. In the backtests, each step up brought more return, with a larger drawdown alongside it: in 2025, from +60% with a 4% drawdown on Conservative to +1,209% with a 20% drawdown on Maximum. The maximum drawdown of each profile, 2023 to 2026, is in the stops and risk table.
How often does it trade?
In the backtests, 36 trades a month on average, about 8 a week. Some days have none: Beagle only trades when its conditions line up.
What about weekends?
In the backtests from January 2023 to October 2026, 17 of 1,657 trades were held over a weekend, always with the stop on the server. A Monday gap can push the exit past the stop: the worst trade on Moderate, 2.8% of the balance, was a Monday open in August 2026. Short Friday avoids new trades on Friday afternoon but does not close open ones: if your account cannot hold positions over the weekend, close them yourself on Friday.
Can I run it alongside other EAs?
Yes. Give it its own magic number and calculate the lot on a fixed amount, the slice of the account you've given Beagle.
Will my test match yours?
It should come close with real ticks. On another broker's history, results can differ slightly from ours. Beyond that, every broker has its own spread, commission, swap and ticks, and those change the result. In the tester, orders fill on real ticks; a live account adds latency and more slippage.
How do I contact you?
Through the MQL5 chat.
