WaveTrend Clarity
WaveTrend Clarity was built from a situation I ran into quite often when trading XAUUSD: price starts moving, momentum seems to shift, but it’s hard to tell whether it’s a real change or just a temporary reaction inside a broader move.
Many oscillators show overbought/oversold conditions or signal crosses, but interpreting them consistently is not always straightforward. The same setup can lead to very different outcomes depending on context.
This tool focuses on one thing: making the WaveTrend structure easier to read in real time.
What the tool does
WaveTrend Clarity simplifies the classic WaveTrend oscillator into a clean and readable format, showing:
- the main WaveTrend line (WT1)
- the signal line (WT2)
- the spread between them (momentum difference)
- overbought and oversold zones
Instead of adding signals or predictions, it keeps the structure visible and stable so you can understand what the oscillator is actually doing.
Typical interpretation on chart:
- WT1 above WT2 → momentum shifting bullish
- WT1 below WT2 → momentum shifting bearish
- wide separation → stronger momentum
- compression near zero → weaker or transitional phase
The goal is not to tell you when to enter, but to help you see whether the move has real momentum behind it.
Core logic
The indicator follows the original WaveTrend model (popularized on TradingView):
- price is smoothed using EMA (ESA)
- deviation is normalized into a channel index (CI)
- CI is smoothed again to produce the WaveTrend line (WT1)
- a short SMA creates the signal line (WT2)
- histogram reflects the difference between WT1 and WT2
This version is adjusted for MT5 to ensure:
- consistent EMA calculation
- stable series alignment (no delayed plotting)
- clean histogram behavior
- accurate rendering up to the current bar
How it is typically used
WaveTrend Clarity is most useful in situations like:
- XAUUSD M5/M15 where momentum shifts quickly
- identifying whether a move is expanding or losing strength
- filtering out weak crosses near the zero line
- observing divergence between price and momentum
Example use:
- avoid reacting to every cross when lines are flat
- pay attention when crosses happen near extreme zones
- combine with price structure or session context for better timing
Visual design
The indicator is designed to stay readable without adding noise:
- WT1 (main line) is emphasized for quick recognition
- WT2 (signal) is lighter and used for interaction
- histogram is softened to avoid visual overload
- overbought/oversold levels are clearly separated
- header is simplified to show only essential values
The layout is intentionally minimal so it does not interfere with price action.
Platform compatibility
Platform: MetaTrader 5
Works on:
- XAUUSD (Gold)
- Forex pairs
- Indices
- Other broker-supported symbols
Recommended timeframes:
- M5 / M15 for intraday momentum
- H1 for broader context
Important notes
WaveTrend Clarity is a context tool, not a trading system.
It:
- does not generate buy/sell signals
- does not execute trades
- does not guarantee outcomes
It is designed to help interpret momentum behavior and oscillator structure, especially in fast-moving markets like gold.
Results may vary depending on broker conditions, spread, and execution environment.

Additional context
If you are already using this tool, you may also want to understand:
- when momentum transitions into actual price continuation
- how oscillator signals interact with market structure
You can combine it with:
- Breakout Map Engine
(for understanding breakout context and identifying potential trap zones) - Master Decision Engine
(for combining multiple conditions into a single, consistent decision state) - Trading Control System
(for managing execution, risk, and overall trade handling once conditions are met)
Risk disclaimer
Trading financial markets involves risk.
WaveTrend Clarity provides information about momentum and oscillator behavior. It does not provide trading advice and should not be considered a trading system.
It is recommended to test the tool in a demo environment before using it in live trading.
