DCA Buddy is a utility indicator for MetaTrader 5 designed to calculate and display the break-even levels, profit targets, and recovery thresholds for open positions on the current chart.
The indicator supports both single-direction baskets (buys only or sells only) and hedged positions (simultaneous buy and sell trades). Calculations use the native MetaTrader 5 profit calculation engine to account for contract specifications, broker tick values, and optional trading fees (swaps and commissions).
Key Features
- Net Break-Even Calculation: Computes the volume-weighted break-even level for net long, net short, or hedged baskets.

Input Parameters
Target & Recovery Settings:
- Target Profit (Account Currency): Desired profit in your account currency to calculate and draw the target line.
- Acceptable Loss (Account Currency): Maximum acceptable loss in account currency to calculate and draw the recovery line.
Calculation Rules:
- Calculation Mode: Select whether to calculate levels for Combined (Net Basket), Buys Only, or Sells Only.
- Include Swaps & Commissions: When true, includes accumulated swaps and commissions into break-even and target calculations.
- Treat positive swap as 0: Conservative calculation mode that excludes positive overnight swaps from lowering the required price target.
- Magic Number: Position filter (0 monitors all trades on the symbol; set a specific number to monitor only specific EA trades).
- Min Net Volume: Minimum net volume difference required before displaying hedged break-even lines.
Alert Settings:
- Alert on Break-Even Crossover: Enables terminal audio and popup alerts when the market crosses the break-even price.
Visual & Display Settings:
- Line Visuals: Customize line colors, styles (solid, dash, dot), and widths for Break-Even, Target Profit, and Recovery lines.
- Panel Corner: Position the information box in Top-Left, Top-Right, Bottom-Left, or Bottom-Right.
- Font Size & Text Color: Adjust visual appearance of the on-chart metrics.
How to Use
- Attach DCA Buddy to any chart in MetaTrader 5.
- Specify your preferred target profit and recovery values in account currency.
- When trades are opened on the symbol, the indicator automatically plots the break-even line and target lines on the chart alongside the metrics panel.
