Trend Pressure Oscillator
Trend Pressure Oscillator is a separate-window analytical indicator for MetaTrader 5. It evaluates buying and selling pressure across multiple timeframes to help identify potential exhaustion points and market regime shifts. This tool does not generate trading signals automatically and does not execute trades. It is designed to be used as part of a broader technical analysis approach.
Functionality
- Multi-range pressure analysis using Williams %R over three periods (Pulse, Trend, Macro).
- Z-Pulse: A smoothed short-term pressure line ranging from 0 to -100. Values near 0 indicate upper pressure; values near -100 indicate lower pressure.
- Z-Trend: An adaptive trend-pressure line with persistence, reacting to price efficiency and range agreement.
- Pressure Core: A price-based scoring system (PRS) combining short-term and long-term components to filter market regime (bullish, bearish, or neutral). Color states: bullish when both scores are above 50, bearish when both are below 50, otherwise neutral.
- Exhaustion Engine: Defines upper and lower pressure zones. When both Z-Pulse and Z-Trend confirm extreme pressure for a set number of bars, an exhaustion state is activated. The state resets when prices pull back into the release band.
- Visual markers: Start, Active, and Release arrows for exhaustion events.
- Optional Pulse/Trend cross arrows.
- Main-chart price boxes during active exhaustion states.
- Popup alerts on state releases and crosses (on the latest bar only).
Usage
Apply the indicator to any chart and timeframe. Use the upper and lower pressure levels as references for potential exhaustion. When the Pressure Core shows a bullish regime (both scores above 50), focus on lower-exhaustion releases for potential upward reactions. When bearish (both below 50), focus on upper-exhaustion releases. The price boxes provide visual context of the price range during active pressure. Always combine this indicator with other forms of analysis and test on a demo account before live trading.
Input Parameters
Pulse Settings
- Pulse Range: Period for short-term Williams %R calculation.
- Pulse Stochastic: Lookback for stochastic smoothing of short-term pressure.
- Pulse Smoothing: EMA period for smoothing Z-Pulse.
Trend Settings
- Trend Range: Period for medium-term Williams %R.
- Macro Trend: Period for long-term Williams %R.
- Trend Smoothing: Base smoothing for Z-Trend.
- Trend Persistence: Weight of up/down persistence counters in trend calculation.
Exhaustion Settings
- Exhaustion Zone: Base distance of exhaustion thresholds from extreme levels.
- Sensitivity: Adjusts confirmation speed and threshold width. Higher values require more confirmation bars.
Core Settings
- Reactive Smoothing: EMA period for short-term PRS calculation.
- Regime Weight: Weight of the long-term PRS score in the core line.
Display Settings
- Pulse / Trend Crosses: Enable or disable cross arrows.
- Price Boxes: Draw rectangles on the main chart during active states.
- Max Boxes: Limit the number of historical boxes.
- Colors: Customize colors for pulses, trends, core, and exhaustion events.
