Meta5 EA is an advanced rule-based Expert Advisor built for XAUUSD, combining breakout & retest logic, dynamic Areas of Interest, and multi-timeframe market analysis.
Instead of watching one chart in isolation, Meta5 continuously monitors the broader market structure across multiple timeframes, using higher-timeframe direction and context to filter setups before narrowing everything down to M30 for precise execution.

DD20_BALANCED_2026 is the profile I generally recommend from the supplied presets.
Not because it produced the highest return. It didn't.
During this test, it provided what I consider a better middle ground between return and drawdown.

They are not live results or independent forward-test results. Backtested performance does not guarantee future performance.
How Meta5 EA Trades
Meta5 EA uses its own closed-bar rule system.
It doesn't enter because one indicator flashes a signal. Several conditions have to agree first, including:
- Market direction
- Momentum
- Volatility
- Current trading conditions
- Higher-timeframe confirmation
- Configured account-risk limits
After entry, Meta5 EA can manage:
- Hard stop loss
- Equity-based position sizing
- Breakeven

Scaling is only used on positions already moving in the intended direction.
Position size is never increased to recover a previous loss.
No martingale. No revenge sizing. Gold already gives us enough excitement.
Account Protection
A strategy is only part of the job. Meta5 EA also includes account-level protection.
- Daily equity protection - Limits trading after the configured daily loss threshold.
- Overall equity protection - Protects against exceeding the configured total drawdown limit.
- Basket risk control - Checks total open risk before allowing additional exposure.
- Maximum open positions - Limits concurrent Meta5 EA positions.
- Maximum daily trades - Restricts the number of new trades per trading day.
- Loss cooldown - Can pause new entries after consecutive losses.
- Margin protection - Prevents new exposure when margin conditions are unsuitable.
- Spread protection - Restricts entries when spread conditions are outside the configured limit.
- Price checks - Helps avoid entries using outdated market prices.
- Connection and broker handling - Handles temporary trading and connection errors.
These protections operate separately from the entry setup.
A valid trading setup can still be rejected if your account-risk limits say no.
The setup doesn't get to override your risk.
News & Weekend Protection
High-Impact News
Meta5 EA can use the native MetaTrader 5 Economic Calendar to restrict new entries around high-impact USD events such as CPI, NFP and major central-bank announcements.
Default news protection:
60 minutes before high-impact USD news - new entries blocked.
30 minutes after high-impact USD news - new entries remain blocked.
Already-open positions continue receiving normal stop-loss, breakeven and trailing management.
Friday Protection
Meta5 EA checks the broker's reported XAUUSD Friday trading-session close instead of relying only on a fixed clock time.
- New entries stop 180 minutes before the Friday session closes.
- Open Meta5 EA positions close 60 minutes before session close.
- No new positions are opened until the next valid trading session.
News and Friday protection timings can be adjusted in the settings.

Choosing a Profile
For general testing, DD20_BALANCED_2026 is the profile I recommend starting with.
It provided a good relationship between return and drawdown in the published 2026 development-period test.
For lower configured risk:
- PROP_SAFE_2026 - Lowest-risk supplied profile.
- GROWTH_2026 - Moderate-risk alternative.
DD20_MAX_2026 is the highest-risk supplied profile.
DD20_BALANCED_2026 and DD20_MAX_2026 are primarily intended for personal-account or demo testing and are not presented as prop-firm profiles.
Don't choose a preset only because it produced the biggest backtest number. Choose a level of risk you can actually tolerate when drawdown happens.

Broker-specific names such as XAUUSD, XAUUSDm, XAUUSD.a and GOLD# can therefore be used without a separate suffix setting.
Full multi-position scaling requires a hedging account and is not intended for FIFO-restricted or netting-only accounts.
