Has your broker or prop firm ever had a server outage – and when the connection came back, your EA started placing orders at completely wrong price levels?
It happened to me. My trading terminals lost connection to the server for two hours, and after reconnecting my EA calculated its levels from incomplete price history. It placed a series of orders around 40 USD away from its normal levels, and they hit their stop losses one after another. The same EA running on an account on a different server, which had only a short disconnection, kept trading normally.
That’s why I built Blackout Guard. It now runs on my own accounts.

And here what is the problem about:
When your terminal loses the server connection for a while, it also loses price data. After reconnecting, many EAs immediately calculate their levels (ranges, highs/lows, breakouts) from incomplete history - and place orders at the wrong prices. A single long outage can turn into a series of losing trades that would never happen with an uninterrupted connection.
What my Blackout Guard does:
1. Detects a long disconnection (default 15 min) or repeated short ones (default 3 within 60 min).
2. Pauses your EAs while the terminal is still offline: each EA chart is saved with all its inputs and temporarily switched to an empty template. When the connection returns, the EAs are already paused and cannot trade on broken data.
3. Brings the EAs back automatically only when ALL conditions are met:
- the connection has been stable for 10 minutes,
- a new H1 bar has opened,
- the M15 history of the outage window is complete again.
Your EAs restart with exactly the same settings, on clean data.
Protection while your EAs are paused (optional, can be adjusted in EA parameteres)
- Break-even and step trailing on open positions, so profits are not left unmanaged.
- One-off deletion of pending orders that were placed after the outage started (older orders are kept).
It can protect also your prop firm accounts:
- Pausing and restoring uses local chart templates - it sends nothing to the trade server, so it does not add to server-message limits.
- Never deletes or loops on orders; trailing pauses itself after a failed modification.
- Works with your own risk guards: exclude them by name and they keep running.
- Can respect a lock flag from a daily-loss protector (global variable), so EAs are not restored during a lockdown.
Notifications
Push notification and alert when EAs are paused, restored, or when the history is still incomplete.
Setup (2 minutes)
1. Open one separate chart (any symbol) and attach Blackout Guard.
2. By default it protects every chart that runs an EA. Use "Charts to protect" to limit it to certain symbols, a timeframe or EA names, and "ExcludeEANames" for EAs that must keep running.
3. Enable Algo Trading and (optional) push notifications in the terminal settings.
4. Test on demo with TestRun = true: your EAs are paused immediately and restored after TestMinutes.
Important
- Blackout Guard does not open trades and does not generate signals.
- It cannot act while the terminal is offline except pausing EA charts; stop losses on the server remain your protection during the outage itself.
- In the Strategy Tester it stays idle (there are no server disconnections to detect).
Launch bonus
The first 10 buyers get a free personal setup: send me a private message with your chart layout and I will prepare the settings for your terminal.
