Candlestick Scanner MT4 is a scanner indicator for MetaTrader 4 that watches many symbols and timeframes for 21 candlestick patterns. Each cell of its panel shows the latest pattern. A context filter can keep only patterns at a recent low (bullish) or high (bearish). A statistics table shows what price did after each pattern in your own history, next to the same measure for any bar. It is for traders who want to check a whole watchlist in one place.
It works on closed bars only. A cell never changes after its bar has closed. It places no orders.
MetaTrader 4 edition: the same calculation, panel, statistics table, inputs, alerts and buffers as the MetaTrader 5 version. The columns can use the nine MetaTrader 4 timeframes (M1, M5, M15, M30, H1, H4, D1, W1, MN1).
Quick start
- Attach the indicator to one chart. The panel lists your Market Watch symbols (up to 30) by H1, H4 and D1.
- In the inputs, choose Market Watch or your own list of symbols, and the timeframes.
- Switch pattern groups on or off (Doji and Marubozu are off by default). Set the context filter: 10 bars by default, 0 = off.
- Keep the pop-up alert on (default) or add sound, push notification or e-mail. Click a cell to open that chart.
Standalone: everything is built in. You do not need to buy or install any other product named on this page.
Patterns
- From the free version: Engulfing, Hammer, Hanging Man, Inverted Hammer, Shooting Star, Doji, Morning and Evening Star, Harami, Piercing Line, Dark Cloud Cover.
- Added here: Three White Soldiers, Three Black Crows, Tweezer Bottom and Top, Bullish and Bearish Marubozu, Dragonfly Doji, Gravestone Doji.
What it does
- A panel of symbols (Market Watch or your list) by timeframes (H1, H4 and D1 by default, or any you choose). Each cell shows the latest pattern, its direction and how many bars ago it formed. Fresh ones are highlighted. The tooltip lists every pattern of that bar.
- Context filter: keeps only patterns whose bars make the lowest low (bullish) or highest high (bearish) of the last 10 bars. You can adjust it or switch it off.
- Alerts when a cell shows a new pattern: pop-up, sound, push, e-mail. Alerts of the same second come as one message.
- Click a cell to open that symbol and timeframe.
Statistics, shown as they are
- For each pattern: how many there were in the bars loaded. Also how often the close 5 bars later (adjustable) had moved in the pattern's direction, and the average move in ATR(14).
- The same for any bar, up and down, as the baseline. A pattern is only interesting where it differs from that baseline.
- On broker history most patterns land close to the baseline. The table lets you check this for your own symbols instead of trusting a promise. It is past behaviour, not a forecast.

How it was checked
- The pattern engine is the one in the free Candlestick Signal Alerts MT4. In the MetaTrader 4 Strategy Tester it matched an independent Python calculation on every bar. It also passed an every-tick repaint test (EURUSD H1, 2026, 8,417,316 ticks, 0 changed marks).
- The scanner: in the MetaTrader 4 Strategy Tester, 6,556,230 values matched the same Python calculation, with all 21 patterns on. They cover every pattern, the latest one per cell and the statistics counters. They came from the engine, the loader and a run through the test period: 108 files, EURUSD, GBPJPY, XAUUSD and BTCUSD on M15, H1, H4 and D1, two settings. Cells used only closed bars, and after start-up the panel counts matched on all 8,674,389 checks.
Questions
- Does it repaint? No. Patterns are decided on closed bars and never changed afterwards.
- The title says "12/60 loaded". Is something wrong? No. Cells load their history a few at a time, and the title shows the progress.
