SuperTrend Signal Alerts

SuperTrend Signal Alerts is a free SuperTrend indicator for MetaTrader 5. It colours the trend line blue or red, puts a buy or sell arrow on every trend change and sends alerts, with optional EMA and RSI filters on the arrows.

It places no trades and does not touch your orders. Arrows and alerts come from closed bars, so a signal never appears and then disappears. The calculation follows the SuperTrend indicator as published on TradingView.

Quick start

  1. Attach it to any chart and timeframe. The defaults are ATR period 10 and ATR multiplier 3.0.
  2. Change ATR multiplier to tune it: lower flips sooner and more often, higher flips later. Optionally switch on Only signals with the EMA trend and Buy only RSI above 50, sell only below.
  3. Pop-up alerts are on. Switch on Play a sound, Push notification or E-mail if you want them. Push needs your MetaQuotes ID under Tools, Options, Notifications.

What you see on the chart

  • A SuperTrend line: blue below price in an uptrend, red above price in a downtrend.
  • A buy arrow below the candle when the trend turns from down to up.
  • A sell arrow above the candle when the trend turns from up to down.
  • A dotted EMA line when the EMA filter is on.

How the signal is built

  • Each bar gets two bands: its middle price plus and minus the multiplier x ATR.
  • While price stays on one side, the lower band can only rise and the upper band can only fall, so the line never steps back.
  • When a bar closes beyond the opposite band, the trend flips and the line jumps to the other band.
  • That bar gets the arrow, shown from the first tick of the next bar. The forming bar never shows one, and a closed bar's arrow does not change.
  • With the filters on, a buy arrow also needs the close above the EMA and RSI above 50. A sell arrow needs the close below the EMA and RSI below 50. The line itself stays the plain SuperTrend.

Who it is for

For traders who follow trends and want the flip points marked and alerted on any symbol and timeframe (forex, metals, indices, crypto. M1 to MN1). Not for those who expect early entries: a trend-following line turns after the move has started, and in sideways markets it can flip often.

Alerts and Expert Advisor use

One alert per closed-bar signal. None is sent while the history loads or in the Strategy Tester. Buffers for iCustom: 0 SuperTrend line, 1 colour index, 2 buy arrow, 3 sell arrow, 4 EMA line.

How it was checked

  • Code check: an every-tick run on EURUSD H1 with default inputs (10,411,052 ticks, 4,644 closed bars, 126 arrows). No arrow changed after its bar closed, and none appeared on the live bar.
  • This covers repainting only. It does not show that signals pay off.

Starting settings

The defaults (period 10, multiplier 3.0) are a starting point, not a tuned set. Test any change on your own symbol and timeframe.

FAQ

  • Does it repaint? The forming bar's line moves with price. Once a bar closes, its arrow and alert stay.
  • Can I try it first? Yes, in the Strategy Tester in visual mode.
  • Does it work on gold and crypto? Yes, on any symbol. The ATR sets the band distance.
  • Will it alert my phone? Yes, with the push input and your MetaQuotes ID.
  • Do the filters change the line? No, only which arrows and alerts appear.
  • Can I keep only the arrows? Yes, turn off Draw the SuperTrend line.
