Fifth Wick — Wick-Confirmed EMA Breakout with Frozen-ATR Money Stop
"If the wick touches the line, the setup dies. If the loss exceeds your number, the trade dies too."
Fifth Wick is not another EMA crossover robot. It is a precision intraday system built on a rule most EAs ignore: the wick must never touch the EMA.
Every other EMA-based EA on the market lets price tap the line, close above it, and calls that a signal. That is exactly why they fire on noise. Fifth Wick refuses those trades. It waits for a completed 5-minute candle whose entire range — including the low wick — sits fully above EMA(5) before it will even arm a short. Longs are the mirror image: the whole candle, high wick included, must sit fully below EMA(5). No touch. No ambush. No trade.
That single filter removes the majority of the false breakouts that kill EMA systems. What remains is cleaner, rarer, and far more deliberate.
The Trigger Mechanic — a staircase, not a single line
When a qualifying candle prints, Fifth Wick marks its low as the short trigger (or its high as the long trigger). If the next candle also qualifies, the trigger replaces the old one — the staircase descends for shorts, ascends for longs, always tracking the most recent valid level. You are never stuck trading against an outdated line.
The moment price breaks that trigger, a market order is fired. No pending orders sitting on the book waiting to be gamed. No fills at the wick. Live execution on the break.
The cancel rule is the quiet genius here. If price returns and touches EMA(5) before the break happens — even mid-candle, on a single tick — the setup is dead. Fifth Wick wipes it and waits for a completely fresh alert candle. This is how the EA avoids the classic trap of buying into a structure that has already been invalidated.
The Frozen ATR Stop — read once, never touched again
Most ATR-based EAs recalculate the stop on every bar, which means your risk drifts while the trade is open. Fifth Wick does not do that.
The instant a trade is opened, Fifth Wick reads the current ATR(14) on the 5-minute chart and freezes it for the entire life of that position. Your stop-loss distance equals that frozen ATR value — full stop, placed above entry for shorts, below entry for longs. The multiplier input lets you widen or tighten it (default 1.0). Take-profit distance is also calculated from the same frozen value, multiplied by your chosen TP ATR Multiplier.
Nothing recalculates. Nothing drifts. The risk you planned at entry is the risk you carry until the trade closes.
Example — the exact mechanic:

Risk Amount — the feature serious traders actually buy this for
You type a number. Any number, in your account currency. AED 25. AED 50. AED 100. USD 200. Whatever your risk tolerance is that day.
Fifth Wick reads your broker's actual tick value, tick size, and volume step for that specific symbol and calculates the exact lot size that gets you as close to that Risk Amount as possible without ever exceeding it. Not "approximately." Not "in the ballpark." The math runs:
(Risk Amount ÷ (SL distance in price ÷ tick size × tick value)) → rounded DOWN to the nearest broker-permitted volume step → verified one more time that the resulting planned loss ≤ Risk Amount
If the broker's volume increments mean AED 40 is achievable but AED 50 is not, you get AED 40. It will never round up to AED 70 to "get closer." That rule is written into the source code, not left to interpretation.
If the minimum lot alone would already risk more than your Risk Amount, Fifth Wick refuses to open the trade. Full stop. It tells you why on the panel and waits for the next setup. No silent over-risk. No "close enough." If free margin is insufficient, same behavior — no trade, clear message.
Because the calculation pulls live tick value and tick size from the symbol itself, it works identically on BTCUSDm, XAUUSDm, USTECm, USOILm, EURUSDm, and anything else your broker lists. No hardcoded pip values. No assumptions about contract size. No symbol-specific hacks.
One position. One magic. Zero duplicates.
Fifth Wick maintains exactly one position per symbol per magic number. Repeated ticks around the trigger cannot create duplicate orders. If you restart MT5 or your VPS reboots mid-trade, the EA scans open positions on initialization, adopts any position bearing its magic number, rebuilds the frozen ATR from persistent storage, and continues tracking it as if nothing happened. No orphans. No re-entries.
If you manually close a position — to bank profit early, to cut a loser, whatever your reason — Fifth Wick does not reopen from the old signal. It resets to WAITING and demands a completely fresh qualifying candle before it will arm again. Your manual decision is respected as final.
No martingale. No lot escalation after losses. No hidden averaging. No grid. One signal, one trade, one frozen risk, one clean exit.
