Actually, there's already a 3D printer out there, with exactly the technology shown, so it's hardly a scam. There's no need to dilute - the technology is already in place.
 
But what is shown does not correspond to reality. sliding hidden parts cannot be printed :) only the shape.

Why not? They "print" it layer by layer - everything is real, it's just a question of the accuracy of the "print".
