Depends how you use the causal parameter
If it is set to false, then it extrapolates the missing data and in that case it recalculates. If you set it to true, then there is no recalculation

No repaint in causal mode. In non-causal mode it uses future values - not for real-time usage.
A normal technical filter (MAs, RSI, Stochastic and so on) can't see the future like we can. When we see a pothole in the street, we'll avoid it. This isn't causal, because we are clever ;) The causal filter can only react on disturbances. It would jump right into the pothole and would then correct the further way. And you know, Forex has many 'potholes' :D
