Big Joe:
He ya Valeo !

Window XP

Core 2 duo processor

3 gigabit of ram (xp 32 bits don't support 4 gigas, that's it )

after like me i think you have a pc for gaming with all stuff wanted (radeon 4870, etc)

I'm a noob killer at america's army (a free war game)

My PC runs Core 2Duo processor, but only 1G of RAM on Windows XP Prof. Is that maybe the reason?

On the other hand, my friend Gerhard runs the same and his PC handles 3 -4 MTs without hanging. I am of the opinion that my PC was not built correctly, but I have no evidence for that.

Maybe Dyeung can put some light on that? Please.

Best wishes.

Valeo,

If you're running Intel Core2 Duo, the processing power should not be an issue.

1G is too little to run MT4...see attached screen capture, it's just one instance of MT4 with 11 screens(tabs) opened, it already consumed 429M memory. When the computer is running out of memory, it'll read/write your HDD a lot(use virtual memory) and slow down everything.

If you upgrade to 4G(RAMs are usually installed in pairs, like 2x2G or 4x1G or 1x4G, XP can use 3G out of it), your MT4 should load faster.

Yes Valeo, you need more ram.

Concerning the ram issues, it depends if your metatrader have thousands charts opened

No, more seriously there's some indicators that are consuming some ram and some processor.

Valeo, at least buy 1 more giga ram (it costs nothing nowadays), and see if it changes something. If it changes nothing time to buy an another computer

Thanking you most sincerely - I was blaming it n the wrong guy. Will get enough RAM tomorrow.

Best wishes.

The Chimp2

Reading Walter's thread over at Trader's Laboratory reveals that the Chimp2 shows the cycles of the price swing very well and is Walter's primary use of the indicator but it may not be a better entry signal than Valeo's method IMHO.

dyeung:
Hi valeo,

See attached chart. There are two trades I took at 13:40 (about 40 min ago)

1st line - Standard Valeo entry signal (but CCI is overheated)

2nd line - point of entry (also a CCI zlr)

3rd line - stopped out by SAR stop (+83 pips)

4th line - re-enter (also after a CCI zlr)

5th line - stopped out at breakeven (-3 pips for spread)

I did not re-enter again as the CCI looks flat - shows no momentum

Notice it's a 1-min chart, 'cos I like to see more details. Like using a magnifying glass to do a complex operation.

I compared it with using EMA-8 stop, it would stopped me out later but less pips( +64 pips), although if the trend resume, it might give me more since a re-entry will lose some pips. But anyway the GU looks more sideways now.

dyeung

NO, you cannot use 8-EMA on M-1, sorry! Too fast - I misunderstood you. I use the 40-EMA to keep me in the trade (Direction) and 110-EMA as TREND. So effectively you can re-enter if the 40-EMA stops you out and the 110-EMA is in agreement that the trade is still in your direction.

I am battling to find the most suitable M-1 template, so I will look at what you have on your template and adjust, except for the SAR . It does make good sense though, thanks.

I agree with regards to "cycle swing" and that is how I use it predominantly - good to know when the cycle is exhausted once you have taken everything else into consideration. It is NOT the panacea guys, I am just trying to find something that will help me making an infomed decision whether I can close out the trade or start looking for a retrace.

When you combine it with the J_RSX_Turbo, you have an awesome combination it seems. Its all about turning points for me.

I think we have "nailed" the entries, all we must do now is to maximise our profits and that is why I like what Dyeung is trying to do.

Good profits today lets keep it up next week.
