Eudora Albireo XAUUSD: setup and user guide

This guide covers everything you need to run Albireo: requirements, installation, choosing the mode, running your own backtest and what to expect day to day.

1. What Albireo does

Albireo trades gold (XAUUSD). Five independent entry engines watch the market, each in its own window of the day and with its own way of reading price. A central logic decides which engine may enter, how much of the account to commit and when to stay out.

When an engine enters, Albireo opens a basket. The basket can add positions at a constant lot as price moves, up to 9 positions, with at most 2 baskets open at the same time. There is no lot doubling. One common take profit, placed on the broker's server, closes the whole basket together, swap and commission included.

On Federal Reserve decision days (FOMC) Albireo does not open new trades. The FOMC calendar is built into the EA.

2. Requirements

• Symbol: XAUUSD (your broker's gold symbol).
• Account type: hedging.
• Leverage: 1:100 recommended. Safe works from 1:30, Extreme needs 1:200, Showcase 1:500.
• A VPS or a computer that stays on. The basket exit lives on the server, but new entries need the terminal running.
• Chart timeframe: any. Albireo works on its own M5 bars.

3. Installation

1. Buy or rent Albireo from the Market inside MetaTrader 5 (Market tab in the terminal, or the product page while logged in).
2. Open an XAUUSD chart.
3. Drag Eudora Albireo from Navigator > Expert Advisors > Market onto the chart.
4. In the Common tab, allow Algo Trading. Make sure the Algo Trading button in the terminal toolbar is green.
5. In the Inputs tab choose the trading mode (see section 4). For most users this is the only setting to touch.
6. Click OK. Albireo shows on the chart and waits for its first entry window.

4. Choosing the mode

The mode decides how much lot Albireo uses per dollar of balance. The minimum balance is the capital at which a mode trades the smallest lot, 0.01. Below that balance the real risk is higher than the one the mode was designed for, and Albireo warns you.

How to pick:

• Start from your balance. Choose a mode whose minimum balance is below what you deposit, ideally well below.
• If you are new to the EA, start one step lower than you think, watch a few baskets, then move up.
• Showcase has no emergency stop. It is the mode for maximum growth and accepts the deepest drawdown (61.6% max equity drawdown in the backtest below).

Custom mode is for experienced users: automatic or fixed lot, maximum lot, emergency stop and FOMC shield on or off. The other modes ignore the Custom inputs.

5. Run your own backtest

6. Day to day

• Albireo can stay flat for hours: each engine trades only in its own window, and the central logic skips entries it does not like.
• An open basket in drawdown is normal. It closes when the common take profit is reached.
• Do not close single positions of a basket by hand: the take profit is calculated for the basket as a whole.
• Phone notifications: in MetaTrader 5 go to Tools > Options > Notifications, enter your MetaQuotes ID (from the MetaTrader app on your phone) and enable notifications. Albireo sends a message when a basket opens and when it closes.
